Women have been represented in politics over the years and have had an impact to the American country and government. Women like Geraldine
Ferraro, Sarah Palin, and Hilary Clinton are all powerful women in the United States' politics that have impacted the government. Women in the
government has always been an uncommon thing to see except for in recent year's history. Women were never involved inpolitics as there were always
male leaders representing the nation. Men were typically seen as good political leaders and women were never considered for the American

Education has a significant affect on voting. The more education a person has the more likely they are to vote. Education also gives the voter the tools
needed to decide what party, if any they will join. For example, a family who may be republicans, will, to some degree influence their children and

that individuals have earned will ultimately aid them in their decision.
The media can convince, confuse and or mislead a voter. During elections, ads on television radio and in newspapers can overload a voter with
information. The information provided by the media is often taken out of context. When people read or see something on television or in a newspaper,
they take it as fact, whether the information is negative or positive it is taken at face value. Eventually the truth comes out, but often it is not until after
an election. The major problem with the media is they can persuade a voter against a candidate, only to find out later that the person they voted for is
not what they were led to believe.
Socio economic factors heavily influence voter participation. The general area that a person lives in plays a role in how a person votes. The southern

In the year of 2014–15, about 57% of students received finical aid dollars being undergraduates. Along with, learning about America intergovernmental
system and finding out that United States has over 89,000 local governments. To me, that is a high number. I never understood why so many local
officials were needed all over our country, but know I understand do. Without these local officials being available throughout our communities, local
issues could take much longer to come to agreement without their help. For example, the Flint Water Crisis was not able to gain the attention of the
federal government, until commutation came within the state and local government. Further, Chapter 4 was my most knowledgeable chapter from this
course. I gained much insight in political socialization and the media. Before learning about political socialization, I would have said that I were to

THE FUTURE OF POLITICS? IT'S DOWN TO US
Politics. Where to begin? I've never studied it or anything (I'm more of an International Relations type of girl) but I think it's important. For me, it's
about more than voting at the ballot box, debates in the House of Commons and making fashionable complaints about politicians etc. It's about what
happens in between that can affect our day–to–day living, from the civil servants who work tirelessly to put laws into effect to the constituency office
caseworkers who deal with mountains of requests each day to ensure each person is valued. Above all, ever since participating in the National Citizen
Service programme, I particularly love seeing the power of social action being used effectively to change lives for the better, by bringing people
together and at times even influencing decision–making at the top.
I feel that it's vital for the younger generation to play a part in how the country is run because, after all, it goes without saying that each iteration of
government has an impact on the future that we are going to inherit. Why are we being set up to shoulder economic and environmental burdens we
had no role in creating? Tuition fees? Fracking anyone? Makes it all the more worrying that there seem to be so many structural and psychological
barriers that stop young people from getting involved and these need to be addressed.

One of the main aspects of politics is theory. A theory is a deep, abstract thought or speculation. Philosophers over the years have come up with many
theories ranging from a variety of topics. Two of these philosophers, Jean–Jacques Rousseau and John Locke, came up with their own theories that
contributed to political theory. Locke was born in 1632 in the United Kingdom. His view on government was that every citizen involved in the society
consents to the government once they have benefited from it. Locke focused his theory of private property in that it is important to society. Rousseau
was born in Switzerland in 1712. His major belief was that a government is truly free if all citizens were able to speak out and have the right to vote.
The executive has the job of enforcing laws and has the power to carry out any sentence. They also have the power to fix details of legislation.
Executive power is limited in the way that it cannot go beyond the limits of natural law. Natural law is the philosophy that certain rights are
inherent to humans. Locke says that the law must be founded on the will of a superior. It must also perform the function of establishing rules of
behavior, and be binding on humans. He believes that if a government oversteps their authority they forfeit their power to rule the people. This belief
comes from Locke's view on the government is a government of consent which means both parties are in agreement (Tannenbaum, 180) Rousseau
disagreed with Locke's view in many ways. Rousseau believed that the purpose of a government was to bring people into harmony and to unite them
under the "General Will." He denounces Locke's belief in a representative democracy. Rousseau believes that sovereignty is unalienable, legislative

One cannot entirely define politics as it becomes more subjective and relative within individuals and societies. However there seems to be one
common fact that cuts across all the various definitions and ideas; essentially it is the power factor. Today most people see it as a "game", hence the
term political gimmicks. It is almost as if a group of people are into some kind of race to get the ultimate price of power and will do "anything" to get it.
According Randall (1982, pg.10), politics is how resources available to people are used. With this definition, they are entitled to the decision–making
allocation of resources and the management of these resources that indirectly or directly affect the public domain. Further more, it has no distinction as
to who or what gender has to lead. In world politics today, things are a bit different and quite clear on the different role of women and men in relation to
their participation and involvement.
Gender equality has gained a central place on the global political agenda and it is now widely assumed a positive ideal (Squires, 2007). Furthermore,
gender equality is seen as central to the awareness of modernization and economic efficiency, which is presented as key to good governance. Both
rights–based and utility–based arguments have converged to place gender equality high on the agenda of liberal states and organizations (Squires, 2007).
