• Determining which scientific papers belong to a given individual researcher is
challenging, especially for common names
• There is big interest in having author profiles, and the need for them to be accurate

 ORCID is a great initiative - one ID used across publishers & platforms
 Elsevier is actively engaged in this initiative since the start
 Elsevier products are increasingly integrating with ORCID
