WHAT DOES PHYSICAL FITNESS MEAN ?
• is the ability of body systems which incudes the heart, lungs and the muscles
of the body to work together efficiently to perform daily living activities and
also to have a healthy body.
• Consist of two concepts:- Specific fitness
-General fitness
3. SPECIFIC AND GENERAL FITNESS
• Specific fitness and General fitness are the two concepts which made up
physical fitness.
• SPECIFIC FITNESS – also known as task orientated is the persons ability
to perform a specified activity with reasonable efficiency, by preparing
athletes to have a good performance in their sports.
• GENERAL FITNESS – focuses on broad goals of total health and well
being rather than specific goals.
4. WHY IS PHYSICAL FITNESS
IMPORTANT?
• Physical fitness and participation in an exercise programs are associated with
enhanced health and a higher quality of life.
• THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF FITNESS – helps reducing stress
depression and anxiety
- builds ups strong bones and muscles
- weight control
- and also improves cardiorespiratory fitness.
5. PHYSICAL FITNESS DEVELOPING
ACTIVITIES
• AEROBIC ACTIVITIES :– Strengthens the lungs and heart e.g running
- increase in oxygen e.g skipping
-increase in cardiac capacity
• INDIVIDUAL SPORTS AND TEAM GAME : -Body warm ups before the game
to avoid injuries and ensuring a performance which is effective and efficient.
- cooling down of the body for relaxation after the game or activity.
• ANAEROBIC ACTIVITY :- Increasing the thickness of your body
- the development of stronger muscles and speed
9. CONCLUSION
• Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health. It has many benefits,
including improving your overall health and fitness, and reducing your risk for many chronic
diseases. There are many different types of exercise; it is important that you pick the right
types for you. Most people benefit from a combination of them: Endurance, or aerobic,
activities increase your breathing and heart rate. They keep your heart, lungs, and circulatory
system healthy and improve your overall fitness. Examples include brisk walking, jogging,
swimming, and biking. Strength, or resistance training, exercises make your muscles stronger.
Some examples are lifting weights and using a resistance band. Balance exercises can make it
easier to walk on uneven surfaces and help prevent falls. To improve your balance, try tai chi
or exercises like standing on one leg and also Flexibility exercises stretch your muscles and
can help your body stay limber. Yoga and doing various stretches can make you more
flexible.
