This document discusses the future of radio broadcasting and proposes a hybrid radio model. It notes some disadvantages of traditional radio like lack of visuals and inability to track metrics instantly. A hybrid model is proposed that uses RadioDNS to deliver additional visual and interactive content to mobile apps over the internet to accompany over-the-air FM radio broadcasts. This would provide app-like experiences for FM radio with benefits like measurable analytics through click-throughs while reducing data usage compared to solely streaming radio. The technology is presented as already working across FM and HD formats with no patent costs.
10. Why “Streaming” Radio?
One of the disadvantages traditional
radio has is lack of visuals
Internet radio, like display and online, is
instantly measurable. With broadcast,
you have to wait for ratings
You can initiate an action
The richer the media the better
You can have people join in
The click through rates are higher
Audio plus Display is relevant

24. RadioDNS
Use FM Radio – not Streaming
Deliver additional visual / commercial content
over the mobile Internet network
“Sounds” better – less buffering
Dramatically reduces data volumes
Benefits incumbent FM broadcasters
Enables “click-through” to the browser
An App-like Experience for FM Radio

28. What Now?
The technology works
Covers FM and HD
Zero patent/licence costs
Small amount of code for manufacturers
Many application opportunities
Manufacturers want to see “broadcaster
commitment”
