The impact of ICT on education

  1. ICTs defined(Introduction) ICT CAN BE DEFINED AS THE USE OF HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FOR EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION. ICT REFERS TO THE FORMS OF TECHNOLOGY THAT ARE USED TO TRANSMIT, STORE, CREATE, SHARE OR EXCHANGE PARTICULAR TASK.
  2. impact of Ict on education ICT HAS BECOME A PART AND PARCEL OF LIFE. THE DISCOVERIES AND INVENTIONS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAVE IMPROVED THE SPEED OF COMMUNICATION. BY MAKING USE OF AVAILABLE TOOLS, ICT IS HELPING COMMON MAN TO FULFIL HIS NEEDS. IT HAS BECOME INTEGRAL PART OF NEW ERA

Advantages of ICT in education  Student accept more responsibility for their own learning and its assessment, developing expertise in the process.  Teacher application of curriculum can be monitored by analyzing test results. This can be used by teachers for assessing and improving their own performance meeting state and national standards  Multi sensory Learning  Edutainment  Self Learning

Disadvantages of ICT in education  There are large costs involved.(Expensive) • Students, and sometimes teachers, can get engaged in the technology aspect rather than subject content. • A child’s imagination power decreases i.e. the ability to imagine vanishes. Impact on Curriculum  The technological tools require training and the know how to be able to be use sufficiently in the classroom
  5. They are various ways of learning using ICT  Learning with ICT can help Motivate learner  Learning process can be anywhere and anytime  Students use interactive whiteboard in classroom
  6. Objectives of ICT in education  The objectives of ICT is to connect the gap between the students parents and educators, by encouraging possible, cooperative and straight forward modes of communication.

General impact of ICT in education  A person from village also can refer the latest information and research everyday.  Television broadcast is one of the best communication media to educate students, farmers, sportsman.  The difficult experiments, advance surgery for medical students etc. can be viewed.  LCD projectors can be used for effective training.  The man power problem, the human mistakes can be avoided by on-line examination.

Learning through ICTs can help reduce cost  Learning online or through blended learning can assist in reducing cost of spending from both the learners and teachers • Increasing learning time without extending classroom time through self- study modules, educational TV and radio programs and interactive software can reduce the cost of resources required in actual class
  9. Impact of ICT on education management systems  Facilitating collection and analysis of data • Improving flow of information and communication • Facilitating decentralization and devolution.  ICT can save the schools management a lot of money through efficiency

The effect of ICT on curriculum  Focuses on the skills needed to build and communicate knowledge.  The application of ICT in schools helps learners and teachers to be able to achieve curriculum goals and objectives efficiently  The implementation of curriculum goals and objectives becomes productive and effective in the education system

Effects of ICT on teachers  Provide teachers with help regarding their lesson plans  Assist the teachers to connect with other professionals in field of education  Teacher and learner education relationship can extend beyond the classroom with tools such as YouTube and online quiz platforms  Teachers are able access a broad spectrum of information
