Maintenance Asset Planning (MAP) 2006 - 2013
Overview
Full life cycle educational project management in Maintenance Asset Planning (Planning and
Scheduling)
Deliverables
Initially, a 7 module, 42 hour certificate program, classroom based instruction, designed and
written in 8 months, with industry support from Syncrude, Suncor, CNRL (development budget
$75,000.)

• Started with one cohort of 24 participants completing 7 modules of certificate program over 8

modules of the certificate program/per year, for 4 years (over 1200 participants)
• Ran 4 simultaneous cohorts of 10 participants per module/per semester of on-site MAP training
at Suncor, Firebag locations within Fort McMurray (over 80 participants per year) & 1 cohort per
year of 8 participants per module in Edmonton with Shell
• MAP continues to run through both corporate training & non credit continuing education
calendar
• MAP expanded into both synchronous and asynchronous training and is advertised through
eCampus Alberta
Budget: Generated between 500,000 – 1,000,000 per year/four years

Overview

Developed 7 module MAP certificate program over two years, starting with a pilot project
Program ran through LMS, Sharepoint on Moodle (formerly Blackboard).

Construction Administration for Industry 2005-2012
Overview
Classroom-based non-credit 2 year certificate program
Deliverables
Developed program design designed with industry input from advisory panel consisting of 7
international and local industries (Casman Buiding, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo,
Suncor, Syncrude, and a number of independent consultants working out on-site in Fort
McMurray)
Program took approximately 2 years to develop
Certificate program consists of five core courses @ 196 hours plus one professional
management stream @ 78-110 hours.
Four business steams options, each stream consists of 2 courses; 1 non-credit and one credit
courses
This non-credit program ladders into the credit, Business Administration Certificate/Diploma
programs, which ladders into academic business programs with Keyano College and 6 Canadian
Universities (partnership agreements)

Enbridge Famous 5 Leadership Speaker Series
Overview
Led and supported the F5 committee and advisory panel to achieve four successful years of
speaker series/leadership events that supported a wide demographic of women leaders in the
Fort McMurray region.
Deliverables
Expanded the Fort McMurray chapter speaker series to include international speakers,
and facilitated learning workshops
Partnered with Enbridge Pipelines to secure ongoing title sponsorship
Created opportunities for strategic alliances, collaborations and partnerships with local
stakeholders from the oil and gas industries including: Enbridge Pipelines, Syncrude,
Suncor, CNRL, Shell, ATB Financial, The Bouchier Group of Companies, Local Unions, and
small to mid-sized local businesses
Created partnerships/mentorships with The Edge Academy for Hockey and Dance, local

Iron Chef –
o Spinoff on the popular TV show, teams race against the clock to complete too many
recipes in too short a period of time. At the end the facilitator and chef draw out the
team’s strengths/areas to work on while enjoying the feast they’ve prepared
o Iron Chef was one of Keyano College’s most sought after classes 5 years in a row and
consistently receives rave reviews
Playing in the Mud-sculpture/Art Teambuilding - painting
o Facilitated by a visual artist, Art Teambuilding brings people together to create one large
work of art or individual pieces. Creating artwork gives people the opportunity to get to
know each other in a fun and social way, while learning lessons in teambuilding outside
a regular “classroom”
