t has been a remarkable year for LRGHealthcare, our outstanding team of physicians,
providers, nurses, allied staff, volunteers, leadership and board of trustees has come
together to renew our promise to ensure the healthcare needs of our community come
first in all that we do.
Our unwavering commitment has placed LRGHealthcare’s programs and services in line with
some of the nation’s best. Community members do not need to look further than their local
healthcare network to receive the highest quality care, the latest treatment options and the
most advanced technology.
As part of our commitment to the community, we have broadened our clinical services and
made investments in innovative technology to serve you better.
We now offer MAKOplasty®, a groundbreaking treatment option which employs the use of a
robotic arm for total hip replacement or partial knee resurfacing.The surgeons at Laconia Clinic
Orthopedics and Advanced Orthopaedic Specialists are the first and only certified orthopedic
surgeons north of Boston to be using this breakthrough technology. MAKOplasty® offers
patients a minimally invasive treatment option, resulting in faster healing and return to their
active lifestyle.
Our new Weight Institute of New Hampshire (WINH) is dedicated to addressing the pressing
needs of those struggling with obesity. The burden of excess weight can cause a multitude
of health problems––whether patients choose bariatric surgery or nutritional counseling and
support, we are committed to winning the battle of obesity together.
The opening of Convenience Care at Lakes Region General Hospital provides walk-in medical
treatment for the most common injuries and illnesses, as well as prevention and wellness
services. Whether you live here or are just visiting the area, Convenience Care is great option
for quality, personalized healthcare.
These programs are a small sampling of the ways we are working to meet the needs of the
communities we serve––and as we plan for the future, patients can expect to continue receiving
exceptional medical care close to home.

Community Health Services – $756,972
LRGHealthcare offers education programs to help
community member’s live healthier lives, as well as
a variety of services designed to help our community
access healthcare services.
Our HealthLink Program is a resource and referral pro-
gram providing financial counseling and support. Last
year we assisted 4868 people.
Our Community Education Department regularly of-
fers preventive health and safety programs, and spe-
cial events specifically designed to address identified
community needs. Last year, our efforts reached more
than 4,784 people.
Health Professions Education- $1,027,593
LRGHealthcare is committed to helping build the
healthcare workforce of today and tomorrow. Last
year we provided more than 200 students interested
or engaged in healthcare careers the opportunity to
work in a clinical setting.
Subsidized Health Services $15,859,995
LRGHealthcare provides a number of health services
because they meet an essential community need,
even though we realize a loss on them each year.
Access to primary care services was specified as
the most important health issue by respondents to
the 2011 Healthcare Community Needs Assessment
Survey. LRGHealthcare subsidizes primary care prac-
tices, and the federally qualified HealthFirst systems
to ensure ongoing access—not just in the commu-
nities where our hospitals operate, but throughout
our service areas. Without these subsidies, many of
these practices would not be able to sustain their op-
erations.
Regionally, LRGHealthcare actively partners with EMS
programs on education and training, cost recovery
and compliance, clinical CQI and central purchasing
programs. Collaborating on these initiatives helps to
maintain strong EMS programs in our communities.

preparedness training and coordination in
Belknap and Merrimack Counties.

Last year, LRGHealthcare provided
$4,586,558 (based on costs) in free or dis-
counted care to people in our community.
We are proud of the impact we have had in
this area.
LRGHealthcare works in partnership with
many local organizations and initiatives to
strengthen the health and economic founda-
tion of our community.
Government-Sponsored Healthcare
(Medicaid) $13,284,249
Medicaid has long been under-funded by
the State and Federal Governments, and
with our disproportionate share of Medic-
aid patients, this has resulted in significant
financial struggles. Last year, LRGHealthcare
had $13,284,249 in unreimbursed costs for
Medicaid patients.
Government-Sponsored Healthcare
(Medicare, and uncollected debt and
Patients Discounts) $21,666,325
The State of New Hampshire’s Commu-
nity Benefit reporting form does not include
certain categories that are recognized as
community benefits for other purposes.
In addition to the benefits listed above,
LRGHealthcare also had $15,638,800 in
unreimbursed costs for care of Medicare pa-
tients; $2,958,262 in uncollectable debt; and
provided an additional $3,069,263 in Patient
Advantage Discounts.
