16. €45 million of the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) fast track call for research proposals in
response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
A commitment of a similar scale is expected from the pharmaceutical industry so that the total
investment could reach up to €90 million.
The IMI call invites proposals for projects to develop treatments and diagnostics to better tackle
the COVID-19 outbreak and to increase preparedness for potential future outbreaks.
The first special call for interest express SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020 was launched on January
30 with a budget of €10 million.
