The project proposal is based on
designing an American Mosque
in the city of Castleberry , Atlanta,
Ga. The main aim was to explore
the potential of daylight and
diurnal cycle in a contemporary
mosque, whose architectural
language return it to its element.
This was achieved by understand-
ing different typologies of
mosques around the Islamic
world. For Muslims, light represents
the divinity of God, so natural light
is an integral design element In
Islamic architecture,
The design was aimed at creating
an Art & Media Center for a
semi-riral college campus. The
site is sorrounded by aggregation
of buildings in relation to
quadrangle focused on lawns
that is uniquely American style,
which was perfected by Thomas
Jefferson. The program was a
proposal of an Arts and Media
Center; that should have Auditori-
um, Gallery, Studio, Cafe and
Classrooms for the students.
The site is located Over-the-Rhine
urban historic district.The program
asked for a library as a way to
revitilize the neglected communi-
ty. The concept is based on the
idea of how a library functions
asw a system that catalogues
information, but also provides
people with free opportunity of
accessing knowledge. The
facade and structure of the
program is based on the pleating
technique.
