The following is a response to Ms. Mezey's (nee Potapova) request
for a document-by-document evaluatlon of her academic credentials
from Turkmenistan. This evaluation was prepared based on official
orlginal academic credentials.
Ms. Mezey pursued doctoral study at the Institute of Philosophy
and Law of the Academy of Sci-ences of Turkmenistan. Founded in
1951, the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is a public
institution of higher education accredited by the Ministry of
Education and Science of Turkmenistan. In ord.er to be admitted
into the doctoral program at the Academy of Sciences of
Turkmenistan, applicants must have completed undergraduate
education in Turkmenistan. This is the equivalent of a U.S.
Bachelor's degree earned at a reglonally accredited institution of
higher education in the United States.
In order to receive the degree of Candidate of Science, students
conduct individual study and research, pdss state examlnations and
complete and publicly defend a dissertation. The degree of
Candidate of Sciences is required for a faculty or a research
position in Turkmenistan.
