4. NGAC Purpose The Committee will provide advice and recommendations on federal geospatial policy and management issues and provide a forum to convey views representative of partners in the geospatial community *NGAC Charter, January 2008

5. NGAC Purpose Under Federal Advisory Committee Act rules, will function solely as an advisory body, providing recommendations on effective management of Federal geospatial programs. In particular, it will provide advice on the development of the NSDI.

NGAC Nominations Current NGAC Membership – 28 members 14 from governmental organizations 14 from non-governmental organizations Initial NGAC appointments – January 2008 Staggered appointments – initial appointments for two and three year terms, subsequent appointments for two years. Approximately half of committee seats will be appointed in current round of appointments Call for Nominations issued by DOI Secretary Ken Salazar on July 6, 2009 Nominations due by August 21, 2009 Instructions on NGAC website (www.fgdc.gov/ngac) Nominations will be evaluated by interagency panel Final appointment decisions by Secretary Salazar New appointments will take effect in January 2010

23. Governance Current activity on NSDI metrics. You can’t manage what you can’t measure. Governance Subcommittee has presented a draft to the NGAC. If anyone has ideas on what would provide good metrics for the NSDI please talk to Dennis, Zsolt, Mike, or Barney.
