1. GM’s Position on the U.S.
Comprehensive Energy Bill
 General Motors will support any segment
of the U.S. Energy Bill which provides
Subsidies to GM for Research and
Development .
 GM will also begin increasing production of
energy efficient (hybrid) cars, and continue
development of technology to make cars
that use renewable sources of energy.
 GM will support Industry-Wide regulation
for fuel efficiency standards, as this would
equally affect competitors and possibly
push smaller firms out of the market.

2. GM Opposition
 General Motors will not support a bill
which includes:
 Arbitrary increases in the price of fuel.
 Hard caps on fuel efficiency standards.
 Hard caps on total emissions for
companies
 Cap and Dividend over Cap and Trade

3. GM’s reduction of carbon
emissions
 Hybrids and Flexible Fuel Cars: run on less
gasoline, but still some, keeps Exxon in
business.
 Hydrogen vehicles would be more efficient,
but are more expensive. The subsidies
allocated to the military would allow GM
and the DoD to work together to develop
new technologies.
 The Electric Car: Capable, cheap, but does
not help DoD or Exxon, project has been
buried.

4. GM goes Green! (to the public
eye)
 Dealerships run by solar panels!
 Landfill free production plants
 Increased promotion of hybrid/flexible
fuel cars as most efficien
 “Experiment” with biodeisel fuel, corn
fuel, wind (GM “projects”)
