This webinar gives an example of how a small DGH is planning to deliver 7 day surgery. It discusses the process from an initial gap analysis of the 10 clinical standards for 7 day services and identifying the improvements needed and the subsequent development and approval of the business case for an 8th Consultant Surgeon. When in post, the additional Surgeon will be able to help deliver the service across 7 days. The importance of clinical engagement is highlighted.

- 6. www.england.nhs.uk Action plan • Review of demand and capacity demonstrated a need for an 8th consultant • Business case for 8th consultant went to directors and authorised • Recruitment commenced with an aim for a locum from April and substantive from July 19 • Total review of job plans of existing 7 consultants and redesign of on-call to compliment ESAC • Work with deanery to improve junior on-call at night commencing August 19
