SECRETARY REPORT:
Minutes were passed out for review and corrections/changes. Ross made a
motion and second by Nancy to accept, motion passed.
TREASURER EPORT:
Connie reported current checking balance of $6489.67 and saving account of
$2959.98. Checking balance includes deposits from Hoss’s and Kings community day as
well as sale of cards, promotional donations and new member.
MEMBERSHIP:
Carol announced her dad – John Bartolomucci – is a new lifetime member.
WEBSITE:
Mary Martha reported our website is available and includes a notice of the up-
coming festival. She will post the pictures Carol took of her visit with Gladys Shaffer to
the gas well site as well as anything of interest from our meeting.
Jackie received a form for the Westmoreland County Historical Society for nominations
for the Arthur St. Clair Historic Preservation Award. A motion was made by Jim and
second by Connie and Carol to nominate Melanie Litz on behalf of all her work and
effort for the Export Bicentennial. Motion passed. Jackie will fill out and submit form.
The next community day at Hoss’s is July 24 and King’s is September ___. Coupons
were passed out for both restaurants.
Jackie enrolled the society with Verizon and passed out coupons for which we will
receive commission when anyone up-grades, purchases accessories or a new plan.
Hopefully all the coupons passed out to our members will be passed along to family and
friends.
The Murrysville gas well issue was discussed. Carol contacted People’s and connected
with Erin O’Donnell. Erin is meeting at Panera’s July 28 with Carl, Carol and anyone
else interested in this project.
Ed announced his group is presenting “One Nation Under God” to the general public the
evening of September 14 and to the school students September 15.
Jackie proposed the possibility of developing a newsletter. Discussion followed and
plans were tabled till next meeting.
2. Festival plans as of now were presented. The current confirmed attendees were
announced as well as crafts/demonstrations for children, which will be handled by the
scout troops. Carl presented the situation of building an outdoor oven to bake bread.
Ross offered to purchase the book detailing instructions for building, cost $12.95. A list
of potential cost/expenses were passed around and discussed. We still need to get
confirmed prices/costs and bring back to the members. Insurance is the primary issue as
to how and the cost of obtaining it for the day.
Ross made a motion, seconded by Ed to adjourn at 9:18 pm.
