SWOT Analysis of Library Practicum
SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and
Threats.
Strengths:-
University of the Punjab library is the well-known library of Asia
because of its unique collections: services which they are providing to
their users and working commitment of its professional towards library
and their working punctuality are those things which are main strengths
of this library.
Weaknesses:-
PU library is a recognized library because of its practicum where I
feel that the weakness of this library is their automated software which
does not have the record of their all collection especially journals and their
users and staff also suffering with this problem. There are shelved not
clean therefore cloths and hands are dusty and also many diseases.
Opportunities:-
This is a higher sector library and it is doing the both digital and
manual services for its users because of this its staff and library users have
a lot of opportunities of seeking knowledge.
Threats:-
This library has no real threats. If all the material is automated then
there will be a risk of virus for all its record.
Internship Report
Recommendations
The library should have the weed out policy of collection after
some time in order to maintain their collection updated.
The serial section should also have digital record of the journals.
The working time of interns in cataloging and classification section
should be extended in UN it should be reduced.
The library should also manages the working of hours of interns in
digital lab.
The library should also provide high speed computers to those who
are doing technical procedures of the library collection.
Rules and regulations are not being observed strictly especially
mobile use and silence.
Old serial journals present in serial section should be finished or
separated and new journal should be kept.
Give attention to cleanliness especially of books.
Personal books should be allowed in library.
Books should be issued even after the semester because students
are free then and they want to enjoy from other books.
Every day clean the Shelves because they are very dusty.
(Dusty shelves)
Internship Report
Conclusion
At the end of this practicum of library duration We feel that this
is the necessary part of our profession and all the activities which
We did during the period are the strong conceptual beginning
towards the professional working of the library and the decision
of the library internship after the second semester is worthwhile
and this will provide us help in our next semesters because now
we are able to use all the library services efficiently. During this
period I have work hard in eight sections under the kind guidance
of most experienced professional staff. They have shared their
experience and their expertise with me. They have given me lots
of tips and techniques, which will help me in my professional life.
Whole of the staff and management are very well
disciplined, encouraging and provide total guidance for the
completion of the practicum period. On the whole it was a
pleasurable experience for me as internee.

  • 23. Internship Report SWOT Analysis of Library Practicum SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Strengths:- University of the Punjab library is the well-known library of Asia because of its unique collections: services which they are providing to their users and working commitment of its professional towards library and their working punctuality are those things which are main strengths of this library. Weaknesses:- PU library is a recognized library because of its practicum where I feel that the weakness of this library is their automated software which does not have the record of their all collection especially journals and their users and staff also suffering with this problem. There are shelved not clean therefore cloths and hands are dusty and also many diseases. Opportunities:- This is a higher sector library and it is doing the both digital and manual services for its users because of this its staff and library users have a lot of opportunities of seeking knowledge. Threats:- This library has no real threats. If all the material is automated then there will be a risk of virus for all its record.
