4. Abstract
I will talk about video game effect negatively the brain, researchIn this
stress, anxiety, for themcausesitpeoplesomememory and vision. also,
and even isolation if the addiction gets severe enough.
5. Introduction:
Video gaming is a very popular leisure activity among adults (Pew
Research Center, 2018). Theamount of time spent playing video games
has increased steadily, from5.1 h/week in 2011 to 6.5 h/week in 2017
(The Nielsen Company, 2017). Video gaming is known to have some
benefits such as improving focus, multitasking, and working memory,
but it may also come with costs when it is used heavily. By spending a
predominant partof the day gaming, excessive video gamers are at risk
of showing lower educational and career attainment, problems with
peers, and lower social skills (Mihara and Higuchi, 2017). On theone
hand, video game use is widespread, and it may come with certain
precursors as wellas consequences. On the other hand, little is known
about the relations between various video gaming habits and
psychologicalfunctioning. This study aims to shed light on these
important relations using a large sample.
Parents and professionals may beworried about their excessively
playing children being “addicted.” However, problematic and potentially
addictive video game use goes beyond the extent of playing (in hours
per week; Skoric et al., 2009). Italso includes such issues as craving, loss
of control, and negative consequences of excessivegaming. While it is
still a matter of debate whether problematic video game play should be
considered a behavioral addiction, its status as a mental disorder has
been clarified sincethe release of the DSM-5 in 2013. In theDSM-5, the
American Psychiatric Association (2013)defined InternetGaming
Disorder with diagnostic criteria closely related to Gambling Disorder.
Generally, this decision has been supported by many researchers (e.g.,
Petry et al., 2014) buthas also caused controversies. Researchers have
criticized the selection of diagnostic criteria and the vague definition of
the InternetGaming Disorder construct, which excludes offline games
frombeing related to addictive use(e.g., Griffiths et al., 2016; Bean et
al., 2017)..
6. Objectives:
In this project, my objective is:
Problematic video game use.
The reasons for playing.
The damage for playing long time.
A solution for video games addiction.
7. Research question:
The research questions are:
Q1: Do video games cause violent behavior?
Q2: Can playing video games make you tired?
Q3: How can you treat video game addiction?
8. Hypothesis
Violent video games have been tied to violent behavior, but to varying
degrees. While it often shows decreased empathy in video game
players, as well as a tendency to be more aggressive, there are no
conclusive studies that show a direct correlation between video games
and crimes committed. The feeling is that the longer a person (child or
adult) is exposed to violent video games, the more aggressive they may
become.
Playing video games may not make you tired while you play them—they
may have the opposite result. But what they can do is interfere with the
quality of sleep that you get. If you don't get a good night's sleep because
your brain couldn't shut down after being ramped up from video games,
you'll feel the effects the next day. Even if you get 8 hours of sleep, you may
feel tired, irritable, and unable to focus because of the lack of good sleep.
The most common treatment for video game addiction is cognitive
behavioral therapy. Unlike addictions to drugs or alcohol, there are no
medications that a person can take to "get rid of the issue." Instead, players
need to learn how to remove the focus of video games from their lives and to
enter their "real life" once again.
9. Literature review:
In previous studies it says Video game exposure in adolescents aged
between 8 and 18 years has been estimated to be around 15 h per week
so Apart from an overall relationship between gaming and negative
behavior, research suggests a link between violent video game exposure
and isolated behavioral traits and behaviors, such as empathy, morality,
and aggression. The analysis of longitudinal, experimental and cross-
sectional studies suggests that there is a negative relationship between
violent video gaming and empathy.
10. Materials and Methods
The material was on website link. I shared it in social media.
Also, it was a questionnaire.
