ALKARAM Towel Industries Private Limited April 2011 to date
Alkaram is engaged in manufacture and exports of terry towels to different countries of the world, majorly to USA and it is the largest Company of
Pakistan for exports of low end towel. Currently, I am working as Chief Financial Officer of the Company under the direct supervision of the Director
Finance and my responsibility is to manage the following departments:
Financial
Reporting
Financial Reporting department is responsible for:
• Recording transactions according to IFRSs and Companies Ordinance 1984;
• Preparing reconciliations and processing payments of all stakeholders of the Company;
• Monthly, quarterly, six monthly and annual financial reporting to Directors;
• Monthly presentation - Being delivered to Board on the timely financial results; and
• Facilitation and finalisation of statutory external audit.
Taxation Taxation department has the responsibility to:
• Manage the records as directed by Taxation laws in Pakistan;
• File the monthly sales tax return, annual returns of income tax and timely submission of withholding tax statements with
taxation authorities; and
• Facilitate the officers of taxation authorities in case of any notice, demand or audit relating to tax.
DTRE This department is being formed after my joining in Alkaram, following are the functions of this department:
• Obtaining approvals from Custom Authorities of DTRE i.e. Duty and Tax Remission for Exporters and to utilise the non-duty
paid imported stock; and
• Audit by DTRE section of Custom Authorities is also being managed by this department.
Rebate and
Drawback
It is the responsibility of Rebate and drawback department to prepare the cases according to local laws and regulations for approval
from TMA (Towel Manufacturer’s Association) and subsequent submission with Government Authorities for easy recovery.
Treasury This department is responsible to manage the working capital on a day to day basis and to obtain finance from Bank accordingly.
Daily briefing is being given to Director Finance on the current position of the funds.
Insurance Insurance department is responsible for controlling all types of risks to the Company that can be covered through Insurance.
