This document discusses the development of a new type of lightweight material called aerographite. It has a porous, web-like structure that allows it to be extremely light yet very durable. The aerographite is produced through a novel chemical vapor deposition process that deposits a carbon web without needing a template. It is seen as having various applications, such as aircraft components, batteries and supercapacitors, due to its combination of properties.
