2. Introduction
What would you do if you were at office and
realized that you forgot to switch off a fan at
your house ?
Would it not be great if your house would sense
there’s no one inside and would automatically
switch off the fan.
It’s the concept of smart house, a small part of
the greater concept “ INTERNET OF THINGS
(IoT)”
The IoT on the whole is the concept of
interconnection of physical objects to achieve
a greater value and service.
3. The above picture depicts different levels of
connectivity in the IoT.
With everything connected such that they can
interpret the environment around them and come
up with smarter solutions, on their own, the life will be
like never before, and, in a better way.
4. Trends
Mobile phones –with the arrival of smart phones
and androids IoT had already shown it’s presence
in the mobile market but there’s still many
revolutions to happen.
Housing- we have already seen universal remote,
sensory gates but with the introduction of smart
house , there are many gadgets to come which
will take care of all our housing problems in the
blink of an eye.
Apart from those mentioned above there are
other fields as well in which a lot is being done like
Medical sector, Housing ,Traffic Control ,Industries
, Transportation , Power Grids etc.
5. POTENTIAL
Medical – with patients, drug
stores and medical equipments
being regulated by automated
machines, a lot of time can be
saved which is critical in health
care, also doctors can operate
on patients even without being
physically present at the scene.
When we consider these points
and the whooping no. of
patients in any country it can
be easily inferred that medical
will be the biggest sector for
the IoT in the coming years.
6. Interest Areas
Among all the areas covered under IoT, I like what
is being done in the fields of mobile phones and
Smart Housing technology.
If provided an opportunity I would like to work in
any of these two fields.
