Overview
Mr. Maccagno received his Master of Science in Geology with a specialization in Hydrogeology from the
University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1991 and has been with WorleyParsons, now Advisian, since then.
He has over 24 years of experience, including site assessment and remediation, groundwater monitoring,
contaminants, risk management, groundwater flow modelling, aquifer testing, regional groundwater flow,
baseline hydrogeological characterization, and legal support. He has been an expert witness in cases
involving off-site hydrocarbons, metals, and VOCs contamination, and a Class II landfill siting
application, and has taught the Applied Hydrogeology in Alberta course at the University of Alberta,
Faculty of Extension since 2009. Other projects have included an overview of groundwater conditions and
management challenges within the North Saskatchewan River basin; hydrogeologic characterization,
water quality, and water balance modelling of a large recreational lake in Alberta; EPEA and Water Act
renewal applications for large resource developments; and expert witness services in hydrogeology.
