ATMOSPHERE AT A YUNGBLUD CONCERT
(voice over)
I attended his "Yungblud world tour
2023" on February 21st at Newcastle
Utilita Arena. I have recorded clips
of songs from him and his support act
Neck Deep. At his concert I noticed
that people's appearances were
individual, and everyone had their own
vibe. This was humbling as they knew
being at a Yungblud show, they would
feel safe to be able to express
themselves.
During the concert I had taken videos
of songs, in-between songs, and
messages Yungblud was talking about.
One of the videos I have gotten that
makes people feel safe to express
themselves was when he said

YUNGBLUD #1
"your individuality is the best
f***ing thing you've got."
(voice over)
This message would and has helped
people to become themselves and to not
hide behind a mask. This message has
told his fans that it is okay to wear
the clothes you want, wear the type of
makeup you want and so much more.
I went to see Yungblud with my mam as
it was a Christmas present. My mam did
not know much about him but had heard
some of his music when I have it
playing around the house. My mam had
been listening to his self -titled
album "Yungblud" CD in the car a few
weeks before the concert and she
noticed some lyrics and topics that he
has spoken about.
At the concert she said to me
(VOICE OVER) INTERVIEWER #1
"I like how everyone feels safe to wear the clothes they want
and expresses themselves."
During the concert she was telling me
how
(VOICE OVER)INTERVIEWER #1
"it is good that he is talking about different topics, giving
advice to people who are struggling and do not know how to
handle certain situations".
(voice over)
She really enjoyed the show and
admired the amount of energy he has.
She said,
(VOICE OVER) INTERVIEWER #1
"even though I did not know a lot of songs word for word and
only recognised some of the songs, he still performed
entertainingly, and I really enjoyed his concert."

During the show I have a clip of him
talking about how the shows are
getting bigger and he feels less
connected to his fandom. After this
speech he went into the crowd and
continued to sing the rest of the song
"Fleabag." As Yungblud has a
respectful fandom people who were near
him put their arm around him and sang
with him. This was a beautiful moment
to witness as it was the first time, I
saw an artist come into the crowd live
and was not afraid of what would
happen. This is because he feels safe
within his fandom as he wants his fans
to feel the same.
During other shows Yungblud has let
his fans come on stage with him to
sing a song, to talk about something
they have either been struggling with
or something they would like to get
off their chest. This would make them
feel reassured as they would feel less
anxious as Yungblud is 100% supportive
and would help them. Also, as
Yungblud's fandom is supportive and
kind they would not feel as anxious
and scared about talking to a massive
crowd.
During the show he also interacted
with his fans by asking them which
song they would like him to play next.
I got this on video and the girl whose
name was Chloe was really shocked and
was speechless. He gave her the option
of "California or Psychotic kids," she
went with Psychotic kids and Yungblud
sang that song next. From clips I have
seen he has done this in different
venues for this tour.

BRIANNA GHEY, HE SAID,
YUNGBLUD #1
"TRANS LIVES F***ING MATTER"

and Yungblud is part of lgbtqia+
community, he has spoken about how
wrong it is for someone to do that
just because they are transgender.
(VOICE OVER)
This is not the first time Yungblud
has spoken about activism subjects:
24th March 2018 Yungblud attended the
"March for our lives"
In September 2021 Yungblud among
several singer and songwriters
expressed opposition to the "Texas
Heartbeat act" that banned abortion.
Yungblud said

"THE RIGHT TO YOUR BODY IS YOURS AND YOURS
ALONE. IT MAKES ME SICK, AND IT MAKES ME
REALLY DISGUSTED THAT PEOPLE SIT THERE,
AND THEY TAKE AWAY THAT CHOICE AND THEY
TAKE AWAY THAT RIGHT."

On 21st May 2022 during his concert,
he used his voice and mentioned how we
can all make a change against the war
in Ukran. He mentioned in an Instagram

"THIS IS NOT A SLIGHT ON THE PEOPLE OF
RUSSIA." HE IS MENTIONING THE "EVIL
BEHAVIOUR OF THE MAN IN CHARGE OF THE
COUNTRY."
(voice over)
He has clarified that not everyone in
Russia is with the man in charge and
he has met loads of beautiful and nice
people in Russia.
On 24th September 2022 during his
performance at the Firefly music
festival in Dover Delaware, Yungblud
spoke about the death of Mahsa Amini,
he expressed his support for the
resulting protests and civil unrest in
Iran.
YUNGBLUD'S COMMUNITY
(voice over)
Through music Yungblud has gained himself a well-respected
community and fandom. He has stated in a "Kerrang Why
Yungblud is more than music, it's a community" article he
said,
YUNGBLUD #1
"SO MANY OF MY FANS HAVE DIRECTLY INSPIRED
MY MUSIC."
(VOICE OVER)
He has a fandom called "black hearts
club." On his right hand he has a
broken heart tattoo. The broken heart
represents his life before realising
it is okay to be himself. On his left
hand he has a full heart tattoo that
is filled with the love of his fans
and how music makes him feel. This is
where "Black hearts club" has come
from as they understand what it is
like to not fit in a box. Yungblud has
also preached this at the concert I
attended.

Yungblud recently got a tattoo on his ribs that says:
"Never compromise
imperfection is perfection
embrace the strange
never judge
tell the truth
pink socks
beer
Move"
This is how his community and fandom
has made him feel but for his fans it
is a safe space for them to express
themselves. Yungblud as we have seen
does not just stand up for his fans
and community, he also stands up for
people who might not know who he is
and have never listened to his music,
but what they are going through is not
right and he wants to speak up about
it to tell the world.
Yungblud would also connect and help people through his
song's lyrics.
Mad - "I fight myself, but no one knows"
I cry 2 - "It's all right, mate, I cry too"
Don't feel like feelin' sad today - "Don't feel like feelin'
sad today"
Mars - "Every morning she would wake up with another plan
Yeah, her mum and dad, they couldn't understand"
I have made a list of song and the
lyrics from that song that I feel are
important and people could relate too.
I have also added some lyrics that
Yungblud has said that people can use
to change their mindset and life in a
positive way. These are not all of
them, just the ones I have noticed

straight away from first listening to
the song.
He has recently done a free show in
Argentina for all his fans, this is
during his Yungblud World tour 2023.
He has similarly done this by
gathering a load of fans for his music
video "Don't feel like feeling sad
today." The way he has done this is by
telling people the address, time and
place he is going to be, and people
turn up.
During his Yungblud world tour he has
recorded behind the scenes footage and
has been posting them onto YouTube.
These episodes include what has been
happening, fan engagement, tour bus
and the concert clips he has gathered
by his team. These episodes are an
insight into what tour is like for
him, how everything is set up and his
overall thoughts. This insight makes
his fandom see another side to him
that they might not have seen before.
After every show he does he tries to
meet his fans for photos. Sometimes
security and the police might shut
this down for safety reasons, crowds
overflowing and how busy outside the
arena would be. Yungblud respects this
as when I was at his concert, I have
gotten a clip of him talking about a
security guard and how he is making
everyone here safe. If they do stop
him from doing this, he takes to
social media and speaks about how
different authorities have stopped
this and how gutted his is that he
cannot see anyone of us.
SOCIAL MEDIA SIDE
"The way Yungblud uses social media"
(voice over)
As social media is a big promotional
platform it means that Yungblud can
10. 10.
Created using Celtx
connect with his fandom in diverse
ways and on different platforms.
Yungblud is on every platform which is
Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and
Facebook. On Instagram he has 3.8
million followers, on Facebook he has
484 thousand followers, on twitter he
has 609 thousand followers, on TikTok
he has 5.1 million followers and on
YouTube he has 2.53 million
subscribers. As you can see, he has a
massive number of followers across all
platforms. Instagram and TikTok are
the platforms that has his most
followers.
Some of these platforms he posts the
same type of content such as
Instagram, Facebook and sometimes
Twitter. The type of content he posts
on these three platforms are pictures
and videos on his feed. The type of
content can vary as he posts about
different topics that he is speaking
up about, promotional elements such as
latest music, connecting with his fans
and many diverse types of content.
The type of content he posts on TikTok
are short videos whether this is
promoting recent music and singing or
dancing to the song, or it could be
different type of content that he
enjoys and would like to post.
"How Yungblud uses social media to connect with his fandom"
(voice over)
Yungblud is regularly active on social
media especially when he is touring
which is what he is doing now. This
means that whenever he posts on these
platforms his fandom can interact by
commenting, liking, and sharing the
posts. As he is continually active it
means that he replies to comments. The
most common way I see him commenting
is loads of "black hearts emojis."
This represents his "Black heart

club."
As I have mentioned he uses social
media to promote latest music. This
gets his fandom excited for the
release date, music videos and
potential album or EP he would be
releasing later that year.
He does a lot of different interviews
and articles and I have talked about
some of them throughout this
documentary. He always posts about who
he has doing the article or interview
with and adds a link where his fans
can watch or read it. This is normally
through Instagram stories but
sometimes he posts a photo that would
have been taken during the article or
interview. He normally captions these
types of posts with a line that he has
said, that is important and something
he wants his fans to notice before
they read or watch the interview that
this is one of the topics he talks
about.
He has also done a lot of different
magazine covers with publishes such as
"Rollingstone's." He promotes these
the same way as he promotes different
articles and interviews, he has been
involved in.
"The type of content the media posts about Yungblud"
(voice over)
As Yungblud is on tour now, the
articles that are mentioning Yungblud
recently are based on his tour, what
his setlist is and where he is
performing. Most articles are positive
because of this reason. These articles
have been posted over a month ago, one
of the articles that has been
published by NME 4th March 2023 is
titled "Watch Avril Lavigne join
Yungblud on stage to perform I'm a
mess". This venue was in Paris.

Another article is about Yungblud and
Matty Healy. This article is published
by far-out magazine 21st February and
is titled "The 1975's Matty Healy
lashes out at Yungblud in new video".
This article is about the
disagreements and comments between
what they both have said. These types
of articles some news articles might
not have the full story, have enough
information or might have taken an
issue out of context. Either way these
types of articles are popular and gets
people into reading them and this
could be the first time they have
heard of Yungblud and might form an
opinion of him from an article like
this.
"Yungblud in the future"
(voice over)
As we have seen throughout this
documentary Yungblud has made a
statement with his music, personality,
standing up for situations that should
not be happening.
From a music perspective he has done
exceptionally well with his career and
his fandom is only going to grow
bigger. He is a big British solo
artist known all around the world with
an incredible fandom. Yungblud is the
voice for the young youth that find it
difficult to talk about different
topics and situations that they are
going through.
As Yungblud is a mainstream artist and
got into the mainstream only a year
later after releasing 21st Century
Lability, it means that his music is
going to be known and listened to more
throughout the years. The amount of
success he has already achieved within
a brief period of his career is
incredible and people are going to
notice it more especially through the
younger generation. Yungblud and his
