The BSc (Hons) in Finance, Investment and Risk
is a new programme designed for students
who want to develop their career in
investment banking and related roles. It
provides the opportunity to study for a directly
relevant degree that gives you unique
exposure to and immersion in, the financial
services industry.
The programme enables you to develop
comprehensive knowledge and understanding
of the core elements of investment and
financial analysis and risk management.
Alongside the study of the broader
environment in which investment banking
operates, the programme also develops your
understanding of key aspects of equity
markets and investments, security analysis,
asset classes and bond and equity pricing as
well as portfolio management, derivatives, and
alternative investments.

To gain the award you must complete 360 credits via study
of a combination of core, compulsory and option modules
You can complete the award in 36 months or over a longer
period to fit in with your existing commitments
Modules are assessed via a combination of written
examination and summative coursework. The Research-
Based Dissertation is assessed by a short proposal and a
dissertation

2. Progression
Successfully completing the BSc (Hons) in Finance, Investment and
Risk makes you eligible to apply for Chartered Associateship status, a
recognised mark of senior status within the banking and finance
arena.
The programme also provides the necessary skills and competencies
to move on to further study within the discipline, including at
Masters level or chartered status via recognised professional
designation eg CFA.

Our professional qualifications are specifically designed to be

degree of flexibility and enable you to balance your study with busy
work and personal lives.
For many of our modules you can choose to study by Distance learning
or Flexible learning.
Distance learning allows you to study independently within a clear
framework, but at a pace that suits your personal circumstances and
study needs. You will be provided with comprehensive learning
materials, study guides and access to a subject specialist lecturer to
support your studies.
Flexible learning complements the above with a series of workshops
for each module. The workshops are designed to cover the most
critical concepts contained within the syllabus of study and are offered
subject to demand at a number of locations throughout the UK.
