ABOUT ZDM
Zero defects are a philosophy of Lean Manufacturing. ZDM is a data mining approach and applicable
only for future correction purposes, measurable information and to further advance in technological
devices. The underlying premise, which is true in nearly every case, is that the cost of preventing
problems is lower than the cost of fixing them.
Quality defects have significant costs associated with some of the most obvious being money, time,
resources, and lost reputation. Programs to eliminate quality defects can be expensive and time
consuming. One of the most influential ideas about this was the notion of "zero defects." This phrase was
coined by Philip Crosby in his 1979 book titled, "Quality is Free." Which also mean Zero Defect is
equivalent to high standard in quality and directly related to preventive measures.
