1. TRICHOMONIASIS

2. Trichomoniasisis: is asexually transmitted infection caused by parasitic protozoan called Trichomonasvaginalis.
Trichomoniasisaffects urogenitaltract, is a common cause ofvaginitisin women, while men with this infection can display symptoms ofurethritis. 'Frothy', greenish vaginal discharge with a 'musty' malodorous smell is characteristic

3. SYMPTOMS
Symptoms usually appear five to 28 days after being infected. However, they can develop at any timedepending on an individual immunity state. The symptoms includes.
Itching inside the penis
Burning after urination or ejaculation
Penile discharge
Itching or redness of the vaginal area
Uncomfortable urination (females)
Vaginal discharge
Vaginal odor

4. In women
Soreness, inflammation and itching in and
around the vagina.
A change in vaginal discharge –there may be a small amount or a lot, and it may be thick or thin, or frothy and yellow.
Men.
A discharge from the penis, which may be thin and whitish.

5. COMPLICATIONS
Some of the complications ofT. vaginalisin women include:
Preterm delivery,
Low birth weight,
Increased mortality as well as predisposing toHIVinfection,AIDS, andcervical cancer.[

6. DIAGNOSIS
A swab may also be used to collect a sample of vaginal fluids. This can be examined under a microscope to look for the parasite.
TREATMENT.
Metronidazoleat for weak is enough for about 95% effectiveness, however severity should be considered.

7. PREVENTION
Condom should be used effectively
It is important to talk to your partner about your sexual history and get tested before starting a sexual relationship.
