Radiation and it’s Effect in Human Life
Department of Computer Science
University of Gour Banga, Malda
What is Radiation ?
• Radiation is the transfer of energy through waves
(electromagnetic radiation) or fast traveling particles
(particulate radiation).
• Radiation can be in the form of heat, sound and light.
• Radiation can be felt or seen like light or detected
through special instruments like X-ray.
• Radiation from a hot object is shorter and more
intense than radiation from a cooler object.
• The Sun, Earth, soil, microwave, television, cell
phones all expose us to radiation.
Source of Radiation
How measure Radiation?
We also read and see of this topic from the news paper but we may
can't see the Radiation
Today we see the Radiation of this video ….
Types of Radiation ?
There are two types of radiations with respect to ionization of the
collided particle. These are -
i) Ionizing Radiation
ii) Non-ionizing Radiations
Ionizing Radiation ?
Ionizing radiation is radiation with enough energy so that during an
interaction with an atom, it can remove tightly bound electrons from
the orbit of an atom, causing the atom to become charged or ionized.
Source of Ionizing radiation
•Microwave ovens
•Computers
•House energy smart meters
•Wireless (Wi-Fi) networks
•Cell Phones
•Bluetooth devices
•Power lines
•MRIs
Non-Ionizing Radiation ?
There electromagnetic waves in capable of producing ions while
passing through matter, due to their lower energy.
Source of Non-Ionizing radiation
•Visible Light
•Micro wave
•Radios
•Lasers
How measure Radiation?
We also read and see of this topic from the news paper but we may
can't see the Radiation
Today we see the Radiation of this video ….
How to Measure Radiation?
Radiation exposure is measured primarily in Rem and
the Sievert (SI unit), and is a measure of the
radioactive dose absorbed relative to its possible health
effects on the body.
Effect in Human Life
• Hair: The losing of hair quickly
and in clumps occurs with radiation
exposure at 200 rems or higher.
• Brain: Since brain cells do not
reproduce, they won't be damaged
directly unless the exposure is 5,000
rems or greater. Like the heart,
radiation kills nerve cells and small
blood vessels, and can cause seizures
and immediate death.
Effect in Human Life
Blood System: When a person is
exposed to around 100 rems, the
blood's lymphocyte cell count will
be reduced, leaving the victim
more susceptible to infection. This
is often refered to as mild
radiation sickness.
Reproductive Tract: Because reproductive tract cells divide
rapidly, these areas of the body can be damaged at rem levels as
low as 200. Long-term, some radiation sickness victims will
become sterile.
How to overcome Radiation?
So, we can see the Radiation distance of these devices
Mobile and Laptop Radiation radius Distance up to 2 to
3 feet
How to overcome Radiation?
Never use Mobile and Laptops while charging
How to overcome Radiation?
Keep these Devices at least 2 to 3 feet away from our
body when we sleeping at night.
How to overcome Radiation?
Kids below 18th years and Pregnant Women should use
Mobile and Laptops only if necessary.
How to overcome Radiation?
Always use Mobile Earphone When we talking on a
Mobile Phone.
How to overcome Radiation?
Never keep our Laptop on the lap or any other part of
our Body.
How to overcome Radiation?
•Waverider:
This small and elegant device can be
placed in our home, school,
workplace or almost anywhere,
where protection is needed from the
harmful effects of today's modern-
day wireless environment.
•WaveCage:
Router Guard is designed to
dramatically reduce the radiation
coming out of the router, while still
allowing enough signal for
connection. Just put the router
inside the Router Guard shield
How to overcome Radiation?
To reduce Radiation we uses
some external devices like as-
•Anti-Radiation sticker
•Anti-Radiation Chip: A multi
purpose anti-radiation chip that
can be used for tablet, wifi
Router and PC Monitor
Conclusion
Now a day we use so many Radiator devices , such as cell-phones
router ,laptop etc. Which devices damage human body parts very
slowly. Human can’t realize the problem at the beginning stage.
There are so many device which produce radiation but it is sorry to
say that there are only two or three devices which reduce radiation.
Our future plan is organize so many program on this topic
“Electromagnetic Radiation and it’s effect” to aware public . we
request to all electronic mega-company who are related to these
devices(laptop, cell-phone etc) please as possible you produce low
radiator devices and save human as well as earth and focus on the
topic to invent some device which capture radiation and absorve.
