Cursed Baby Boom Chapter 11
1. Makers and Finders
A Cursed Baby Boom Challenge
Chapter 11
OK, so my readers have spoken. I read the comments and decided to spend the day, not
making money, but focusing on the Invention skill. I would need some scrap for that, though,
and since I had spent all my money on elixirs to sell, and put them up for consignment last night,
I didn't have money for flipping, anyway. I'd have to go to the junkyard, and get my scrap the
old-fashioned way.
Huh. It's like digging for trash, all over again, isn't it? Haha. Well, when I had enough, I'd
go to the library and study there.
2. I cannot believe the stuff people throw out! OK, so maybe it doesn't work, but with Matt's
excellent handiness skill, surely he can bring this thing back to life. Meanwhile, it was time to
get all the scrap I could find, clean up a bit, and then hit the invention bench. I even had a skill-
boosting potion to take beforehand, so that was great!
The Goth family arrived, and held a stinky ghost convention. I found this so distracting, I
hardly got any scrap, at all. I wonder what would happen if I were to breed with a ghost? Would
I have ghost babies? I mean, Matt needed twelve sons, of course, but could I have a ghost-
3. daughter? That could be kind of cool. I mean, look at these guys. They look so awesome! I
like the purple and blue look, in particular.
OK, OK, I know. I ought to be faithful to Matt. But you gotta admit, that glowing blue and
purple look is stylin'.
“You died by Jelly Bean?! Man, that is hard core!”
Samuel was already a friend, thanks to my tag game on our first day. I considered his
attractiveness, and the pros and cons of the situation. After all, I wasn't married to Matt, yet.
Perhaps if Samuel were my first one?
But I was too stinky to really take it further, and I certainly wasn't ready to get pregnant. I
just sort of put Samuel on the back burner, and went back to collecting scrap.
4. Since it was Saturday, Matt technically had the weekend off. But the maintenance just never
ends at the fire station, and he was hard at work.
After a while, though, he decided to take a break from handiness, and work on his athletic
skill. It would help him get ahead in the job, even if it wasn't what we needed for the house. If I
could take a day off working on the curse, so could he, and I didn't do any studying yesterday.
At least he was working on his job.
Great. Now I feel guilty.
5. Back to the Invention table. When I found out how much I made from flipping that day
(from all the stuff already up for consignment), I decided to keep going with the flipping, but
only for a little bit each day. What good is it to be able to afford to build a house, if you can't
actually place anything that you have? Halfway there just wasn't good enough. I had to finish
the Invention skill by next Sunday!
Now, this shows the difference between Matt and me. When a thing breaks down, I get
upset that it broke, but Matt just looks at it as an opportunity to improve his skill. “I'm sure that
eventually, I'll fix this thing juuuuust right, and it will never break again! In fact, I hope to make
6. all the plumbing in our new home completely unbreakable, so our kids never have to deal with a
clogged toilet or leaky shower.”
Awwww. He's so great! And cute. And a really good lover. I can't believe I was actually
considering having a purple and blue baby, just because it looks so good. Maybe one of my
daughters can get with the guy, instead. If one of them wants to raise a bunch of children, for
example. Aaack. Twenty four kids all living with us until they die or complete their lifetime
wants. That's a lot of kids, and a lot of lifetime wants. Who knows what might happen?
“I love your rebellious nature, Fiona,” Matt told me. “It makes life more exciting. I don't
even care that you're behind in your skill. You'll get there in your own way. So what if we don't
get to buy our one item each this week? We have everything we need, for now, and that's good
enough for me.”
Readers, let's just say that we got our money's worth out of that igloo that night.
So, knowing I'm going to do my own thing, regardless of what you say, I won't ask you for
advice tonight. Instead, I'm going to ask you where is the best place in Moonlight Falls for a
woman with an amazing man to take him for a romantic rendezvous. Let me know in the
comments. Maybe we can go there tomorrow, to celebrate our anniversary.
