Our Value
Proposition
Your Cost Effective
One-Stop-Shop
The UKCS (United Kingdom Continental Shelf)
has the oldest average asset age, and many
of the structures offshore the UK have been
producing oil and gas for almost 40 years and
are now coming to the end of their useful life.
In fact, 285 platforms are anticipated to be
removed from the UKCS from 2016-2040.
At Dräger, we know that delivering a
decommissioning project on time and on
budget, and preferably at the lowest possible
cost, is the single largest driver to unlock
the value remaining in a late life asset.
We also understand that late life production
operations, preparation for cessation of
production and ultimate decommissioning
are all elements of the same programme
for operators.
Finally, we fundamentally believe that
innovation can play a big role in achieving
a drastic reduction in costs to remain
profitable in late life, and also in
delivering decommissioning in a more
cost effective manner.
Our value proposition for the decommissioning market is:
Dräger can be your cost effective, one-stop-shop complete
safety solution provider (including flexible hire options) for
any protection & detection equipment, fire, rescue & safety
products, and all related services such as maintenance,
repair, and training.

Challenge 1: Ensuring safety in late life (when existing gas detecting
instrumentation is obsolete) or while decommissioning (when fixed
gas detection has to be taken offline)
What if your installation is in its last year of production, or in the subsequent
period when production of hydrocarbons has ceased but the platform
remains ‘live’ with hydrocarbons still present and power and utilities
still operational?
At some point, existing instrumentation has to be taken offline while hazards
might still be present. So a wireless system can act as a flexible intermediate
solution to close this loophole in an efficient way.
Or you may have multiple assets about to be decommissioned, and you
want a temporary (or even redeployable) system fit for purpose based on
your reduced hydrocarbon risk profile, as wells have been plugged and
abandoned.
Introducing the GasSecure GS01, the world’s first truly wireless SIL2
capable hydrocarbon detector!
- Innovative single-beam, triple-wavelength MEMS IR detector technology
ensures lifetime stability, with no need for re-calibration
- Typical battery life of 24 months and field-replaceable battery packs
- Gateways communicate via Modbus/TCP or PROFINET (PROFIsafe
for SIL2), so they can be integrated into existing systems, and existing
cables can be used for gateways

Challenge 2: Monitoring during
decommissioning preparation or
tank cleaning.
Depending on what the asset’s removal
strategy is, there may be a need for flushing
and nitrogen purging, as you need absolute
cleanliness before cutting with a naked
flame offshore.
Dräger’s detection instruments can be
used by production and operations
personnel, while they are gas detecting
before the cleaning and dismantling
contractors come onboard.
For example, benzene will be present in
any tanks and vessels that need to be
cleaned, and Dräger is the world leader
in the analysis of gases and vapours.
Dräger Benzene 0.5/C Tubes and the
Dräger Accuro gas detector pump can
detect benzene even in the presence of
other hydrocarbons such as toluene or
xylene, as they utilise a scrubbing tube,
which removes all interfering gases, and
leaves strictly benzene.
Dräger X-am®
7000, the solution for the simultaneous and continuous measurement of
up to five gases. It is the ideal companion in a variety of applications where the reliable
detection of oxygen, toxic and combustible gases and vapours are necessary.

no breathing resistance
Challenge 3: Respiratory protection for
persons on board (from production and
cleaning to waste management and
demolition)
Dräger’s personal protection equipment may
be used by the personnel or contractors
whose job is to ensure that ensure that the
installation is hydrocarbon and hazard-free
during the CoP and clean up phases (by
cleaning tanks and vessels for instance) or
those who will be dismantling the topsides
during the destruct phase, or those who will
handle waste management.
We have a huge range of respiratory
protection equipment including breathing
apparatus sets, Air Line systems, and
chemical protective clothing, which includes:
Dräger PAS Colt, flexible and user-friendly,
fully approved for use in applications
requiring either short duration entry units,
airline emergency escape breathing
apparatus, or dual function.
Dräger PAS AirPack 1, for long duration
breathing air combined with high mobility.
Chemical tank cleaning, toxic spillages or
certain tasks when working on offshore
installations are all made easier and more
comfortable when using the PAS AirPack 1.
Introducing the Dräger constant flow
disposable suit SPC 3700 with the
unique vest CVA 0700. The liquid-tight
protective suit (Type 3) protects the wearer
from contact with chemicals and allows
greater movement, while the innovative
vest provides the necessary breathing and
ventilation air for a pleasant cooling effect.
The user is no longer dependent on bulky
masks or heavy equipment such as an
SCBA and no longer has to experience
breathing resistance!
