Previous: Sustainability Festivals Advisor (FuturePerfect Festival, Sweden), Course & Program management at
Ängsbacka Kursgård, Centre for Human Development, Sweden. Public/private sector relationship building with
organisations in Sweden and Scandinavia. Luxury brands research, International fine art consultancy, content writing.
Invited by Chairman & CEO of Hearst Magazines UK to head a client-led sales and strategic consultancy for National
Magazines Contract Publishing Division UK to assist in launch/development of ‘own brand’ customer magazines. Jointly
developed luxury brand magazines for British Airports Authority, Moss Bros PLC and award-winning magazine for
Berkeley Homes.
Results: generated £360,000 plus new revenue. Special Projects & Client Development consultant on behalf of
Chairman and CEO of The National Magazine Company, London (Subsidiary of Hearst Corporation USA). Highly
successful top-level consultancy with NatMags on behalf of their luxury brand titles: Harpers & Queen (achieved most
profitable monthly sales revenue since H&Q launch in 1970) and Esquire magazines. Successful development of
Country Living Magazine’s Summer Shows.
Results: £1.9 million new revenue generation.
INTERNATIONAL FINE & CONTEMPORARY ART
Initiated a new concept of popular art events in UK promoting the sale of affordable art to a wider public - achieving
a record 11,000 works of art sold in 16 event days. Results: £2.5 million sales
Director of Sales & Public Relations David Messum Fine Art, specialists in 18th. 19th Century and British Impressionist
and Modern British paintings. Initiated new marketing & PR approach resulting in increased customer base and sales in
UK, USA, & Europe. Helped Messum’s achieve national leading fine art dealer status. Organised Marketing & Press
launch for seminal book on ‘British Impressionism.’
Results: Personal sales achieved were in excess of £4.5 million. Instrumental in increasing annual sales revenue from
£500,000 to £5m+. Responsible for the most significant top-level UK art-related editorial exposure in national media.
ECONOMIC & INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
Invited to open and co-direct the European Office of Economic Expansion in Brussels for the State of Michigan
Governor’s Office and the Michigan Department of Commerce as Deputy Director. Responsible for:
Industrial Development for Northern Europe. Conceived and implemented strategy to promote European Industrial
investment in Michigan. Appointed Co-ordinator for Local Community Industrial Development Programs. Initiated ID
programs in local communities attracting significant inward investment.
Trade Development assisting Michigan firms to find agents/distributors/licensees in Northern Europe in co- operation
with Governor's Office in Lansing, Michigan. Organised and co-ordinated export promotion trips for Michigan firms and
city/town Trade missions visiting Europe. Initiated Industrial Development programmes. Results: 40+ plants/joint
ventures (6,500 plus direct jobs created). 150+ export trade agreements ($20+ million).
Honoured: Awarded a ‘Resolution of Tribute’ from the Michigan Senate & House of Representatives: ‘In recognition
of outstanding contribution to The State of Michigan’s economy and infrastructure.’

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS & SALES PROMOTION - CLIENT SIDE
European Marketing Director of IPEC (International Parcels Express Company) Arnhem, Holland. Responsible for
Marketing, Sales and Advertising for Europe. Formulated and introduced the company's first formal marketing plan and
sales program resulting in a successful challenge to the European Express Airfreight market rapidly winning significant
market share.
Results: 30% increase in European group turnover. 27% increase in problem market (UK) within 6 months. Introduced
progressive and goal oriented management techniques. Formation of a professional Marketing Services department.
Advertising and Brand Promotion Manager (Europe, Africa and Near East) NV Dymo Belgium SA at group HQ in St
Niklaas, Belgium. Re-evaluated and reformulated divisional advertising and promotion objectives, strategy and tactics
for their range of products. This involved successful, profit-centred production and co-ordination of centrally
produced corporate advertising programs for 14 markets. Introduced new corporate identity.
Results: Developed innovative marketing communications platform. Initiated award-winning corporate and brand
identity.
ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN CO-ORDINATION & BRAND PROMOTION - AGENCY SIDE
International Account Manager & Campaign Co-ordinator for SSC & B Lintas International, Brussels. In charge of Pan
European corporate advertising and brand promotion campaigns. Implementation and supervision of a total corporate
advertising program for 7 markets. Account Executive then Account Manager at CPV Ltd (Colman Prentis & Varley)
London with postings to Frankfurt, Cologne and Brussels offices.
Corporate Clients included: Unilever (FMCG), Regular Army Recruitment, DuPont de Nemours (Nylon, Lycra, Teflon,
Dacron, and Corfam), Monsanto (Acrilan), Fortnum & Mason, Indian Government Tourist Office, VIASA Airlines, Helena
Rubenstein, Yardley, Wedgwood, The Wool Secretariat.
Results: All accounts achieved set profit/cost targets.
