2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. The first week was about understanding the brief and brainstorming
different ideas that could match the brief. These ranged from mood
boards to mind maps.
Other things that we did were two short tasks, one film and the other
audio for some practice in preparation for making our short film and
what to be aware of.
This is the mind map I came up
with first for my initial idea. Once
I picked one, I made a second to
help develop it further.
4. The second week was dedicated to research. The primary research
was to create a survey about the popularity of short films and what
made them popular such as genre etc.
My secondary research consisted of looking at the more popular
genres of films over the year to see if the idea I had would be more
likely to be popular.
Once that was completed and we had a good idea of what our film plot
would be the next step was starting to write my proposal.
5. Week three was to write up our proposal and start our pre-production.
The pre production was a big section that took a long time to do from
the amount of planning that was required for such a short film. It also
didn’t help that the USB carrying the updated files went missing so it
had to be redone.
I also made several different storyboards depending on where the
eventual location was decided. I tried to keep it as close when making
the shot list but kept it vague enough in case parts had to be
changed.
6. Week four was planned out to be the start of filming and if that was
finished, to start editing. However, due to my USB stick going missing
and the files not being backed up like I thought they were, I spent most
of the fourth week catching up on the lost work.
However, once I had managed to redo and add to the work I needed to
write, I was able to finish any planning for my short film, including cast,
location and when all of the cast would be available to film, which was
done at the weekend before the fifth week.
7. The first three days of the fifth week were making sure that my film got
put together and edited into the final piece. I got additional ideas on
how to tweak the shot list for a better effect, such as shots broken up
and adding lighting changes plus the VFX.
Once I was happy with how y short film looked, I got three people in my
class to watch it and do my peer feedback to see what they thought.
Once I had the peer assessment done I could start on the rest of my
evaluation.
