2. INTRODUCTION
AUTOMATIC GEAR CHANGING SYSTEM :
Vehicle can change gear ratios as vehicle moves.
Freeing the driver from having to shift gear manually
and to achieve efficient driving.
The automatic gear changer system is used to change the
gear in a tensionless manner. In this system a fuel power is not
required to change gear.
The electronic control board makes all the control in the system.
Easier to drive in stop and go traffic
Easier to use
Fuel efficient
3. DISCUSSING TWO TYPES OF TRANSMISSION
IN TWO WHEELER
1. Both gear and clutch are controlled by electro-mechanical
by a microcontroller based on computer system
2. Continuously Variable Transmission
4. This system does not require any modification to engine.
The equipment is mounted externally on the body
of motor cycle.
The system shift the up and down electro-magnetically,
pneumatically , hydraulically like a human rider
by sensing the speed of vehicle.
The system shifts gear at exactly correct speed, which
produce smooth gear changing sequence.
Engine runs smoothly without knocking,
which increases engine life.
This system is different from traditional automatic transmission
used in cars, because it uses electromechanical pneumatic
hydraulic devices(similar to foot pressing gear paddle)

COMPONENT USED IN AUTOMATIC GEAR CHANGING
7. WORKING PRINCIPLE :-
It is a proximity sensor which is installed above the ring wheel ring.
Wheel connected to the wheel hub/drive shaft . speed sensor consist
of permanent magnet . magnetic field extend to pulse wheel. The
rotation movement of pulse wheel and associated alteration of teeth
and the gap changes the magnetic field . Which induce altering
voltage in the coil related to speed . Electronic in the sensor convert
sinusoidal signal into digital signal. Which is then transmitted to
micro-controller.
WHEEL SPEED SENSOR
8. There are two micro-controller devices are used
MCU1 : The main function is to shift gear up and down .it also
control the power of ignition . Senses the neutral position of the
gear. Also producing the clutch enable signal to 2nd
micro- controller.
MCU2 : MCU2 control the clutch system by receiving the signal
the signal from the gear system micro-controller. It sensing the
the brake enable and disable condition for clutch pressing.
MICRO-CONTROLLER
9. Generally use high power D.C motor . When the output is given to
Lead screw provide the linear motion . two high power relays are
Used. 1 for forward movement of lead screw , 2 for backward
Movement of lead screw.
This lead screw is connected to mechanical linkage. Which will
Facilitate the forward and backward movement of gear paddle.
This system can easily install on the clutch system.

11. CVTs is an advance technology of automatic transmission. It
don't have the gear box. It is also known single speed transmission ,
gearless transmission, one speed automatic variable speed
Transmission. it Varies transmission ratio continuously . Shift
automatically with an infinite no. of ratios.
CONTINOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVTs)
12. CVTs can not be implemented to existing geared bikes.
Losses in the efficiencies due to belt transmission.
CVTs bikes are bulky and are heavy weight.
CVT bikes do not look elegant when compared to geared bikes
Allow for infinite no. of gear ratios.
Eliminate “shift shock” and makes smooth ride.
Better fuel economy and power loss than automatic transmission.
DISADVANTAGES OF CVTs
ADVANTAGES OF CVTs
13. Need not be trained anymore to ride geared bikes.
Even a handicapped person can ride the motor cycle very comfortably.
Shift gear in tensionless manner and in correct timing.
No need to buy a gearless bike , just altered our gear bike
Long distances can be travelled more comfortably.
Motor cycle look more elegant than scooty.
High mileage
High pickup speed
ADVANTAGES OF SYSTEM
14. COST ANALYSYSIS AND POWER CONSUMPTION
Power consumption : 121 watt
Estimated cost : Rs.951
Time for installing kit : 48 min
