3. Drax powerstation
This is one of my possible shooting
locations, it is closer to my other locations I
will adress in my planning. The estimated
arrival time from york is 43 minutes, I have
also utilized street view to get a clear view
of where I can go, I have also found other
spots to film to get a landsape shot with the
powerstation standing out amid
predominatly green foliage. The shots I have
including this type of industrial
architechture can look less saturated,
whereas in shots that nature seems to be
thriving could be in bright, highly saturated
colour. This can help to separate the two
worlds of rural and urban.
4. Whitby
With the quickest ETA of being 1 hour and 16 minutes,
this route takes me through the scenic countryside of
the north yorkshire moors, the landscape inhabits some
awe-inspiring valleys and huge crators, becks and
waterfalls. This tranquil land would make a good pit
stoproute in which I can pull over and film whenever
and wherever I see fit and where I belive a useful shot
coud be taken. Though this is a longer journey it grants
be the uneven and valley filled scenic route, then at
whitby if I were to still crave more shots I could in fact
film parts of the seaside town which is a picturesque
filming location. This would also help me link my video
more to an emvironmental cause if there were to
be litter or rubbish on/near the beach.
5. Peak district
An even longer route would mean me
traveling to more mountanous and larger
valleys compare to whitby and the north
york moors, however this different route
would take longer with ETA being 1 hour
and 45 miutes. The peak district is home
to the dermont valley, in the valley
resovoiur is held by very dated looking
buildings, this would make an excellent
selection of shots and link to my urban-
rural contrasting environments. The
dermont resevoir is accessible and has an
ETA of 1 hour and 38 minutes. Depending
on my final plan I may be able to vist this
place if I deceide to go to the peak district.
If I choose to have multiple shooting days,
I may be able to film as this would be a
perfect opportunity to capture the awe of
it as I believe it would be deemed fit and
perfect for my video
6. North Yorkshire moors
Although i have adressed the north york moors, I
failed to explore the area in which the moors
inhabits. This picturesque landscape full of old ruins
and classic buildings is an ideal place for a full
shooting day. The mere 40-minute ETA renders it
one the easier locations to
reach.
7. Ferrybridge
powerstation
I usually pass this power station on the A1, its huge
mass makes for an interesting spectecle when driving
past, although it may be difficult to go straight to the
station, I believe the surrounding areas would make for
a good landscape shot including the station. Even a shot
of going past it on the A1 would deem for an interesting
and shot that is related to my project.
8. Hook Moor Wind Farm
The Hook Moor Wind Farm is an accesible dog walking path that will
be ideal to get landscape and close-up shots. With an ETA of 30
minutes this is one of the easiest locations I will be able to go to. The
walking route would take me through and around these turbines so I
will be free to plan and film my shots.
9. The Yorkshire
dales
The Yorkshire Dales is home to some
of the most famous locations, such
as ribblehead viaduct, the train
bridge would make for an excellent
location for a shot, preferbly at
dawn or dusk for the maximum
usage of light however, I belive it
would also make for a lifeless shot,
shrouded in low saturation and
vibrance, I think this would send a
message that would be linked to my
project.
10. Location management and shooting schedule.
My shooting schedule will consist of a maximum of 2 full days traveling to these locations. After the two days are wrapped, and I am satisfied with the ammount of footage and the contents that
they hold. Depending on the person(s) who may be taking me and their ability of driving, and the cost of fuel, I will be deciding on a route for each day that will take me to one or even several of
the locations I am wanting to visit and shoot at. Although, my must have shots will include the hook moor windfarm, and at least 1 of the 2 power stations I have selected, after that I would love
to get a shot of the train bridge and resevoir. Other than that, if I were to do an extra day possibly traveling to this train bridge, I would also film more landscape shots as I travel through the
peak district.
I will plan each journey, making specific stops along the way, this will help me as I can plan a route that could take me through some of my multiple, must-have shot loctions.
15. Facilities, post production
I will be post producing my project in the facilities provided by York
College. They provide Apple Macs and within the macs is film editing
software. I can edit in software like Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premire
Pro and photoshop. However, I will be focusing my work onto Adobe
Premire pro because I believe it would be easier to do some things on
photoshop, such as
16. Shot list
Long shot-power station
Medium shot-power station
Close up-power station
Long shot-windfarm
Meduim shot-windfarm
Close up-wind farm
17. Camera and rig
The tripod I will be using with the rig for a smart phone will
alow me to have 360-degree horizontal movement. This will
allow to do any panning shots, the panning movment has a very
mechanical movement, this will present my low budget video as
if it were a professional production, with steady and continuous
hand movements, the rig can be made to look as if were
expensive and could be used in a proffesinal production.
My lighting will be all completely natural, this may cause
problems if I would want a certain angle and the sun were to be
in my way, therefore exposure adjustment on my phone is a key
factor in my production, it allows me to adjust each shot due to
the surrounding light and how much exposure could be
optimum.
18. music
I am using an existing classical piece, preferebly Peer Gynt's early morning
mood. The way in which I will obtain this piece will be through a youtube to
MP3 converter, I will the reference the piece and its creator in several places
in the video and description. I will do this to give credit to the creator of the
piece, but to also avoid any copyright infringment, as this is an issue I have
had in previous projects.
