3. WOMEN BEFORE ISLAM
Among Arabs, Women were inferior to men.
In use before Islam, Women were considered
property, were buried alive, had no rights, etc.
It was often a sign of class distinction only
males could inherit, women were treated very
inhumanly, their value was worse than a
slave.
4. WOMEN AFTER ISLAM;
When Islam came it brings a great revaluation
in Arab as Islam raised the status of women
without sacrificing their femininity or traditional
values. It defines woman’s role. It gave
protection to women. It gave women rights.
6. RIGHT TO GET EDUCATION:
“It is compulsory on every Muslim to get
education.” (Tabarani)
“Rasool Allah had fixed a separate day of
the week to teach SAW the Muslim women
when he would advise them and teach them
the commands of the Shariah.” (Saheeh
Bukhari)
7. EQUALITY OF REWARD FOR THEIR
DEEDS:
Men and women are equally obliged to
perform the Ibadah i.e.: bearing, praying,
fasting, pilgrimage and get equally reward
for their deeds.
8. RIGHT TO OWN PROPERTY:
A Muslim woman had a right to own property from
Inheritance, from what is left by parents and those
nearest related there is a share for men and a
share for women, whether the property be small or
large, a determinate share.
In addition to she can buy property on her own
name as a legal person. She can possess property
without anybody’s interference. She has complete
right on her property as she can sale it, rent out it
and can give it to anyone as a gift.
9. RIGHT TO MARRY
Marriage is invalid without her consent. But
guardian’s consent is additional to this to
protect her from mistakes due to her youth
and inexperience.
10. RIGHT TO OBTAIN DIVORCE:
The women have right to obtain divorced
from her husband if they want to separated.
Or also have the right to have custody of
their children after divorce.
11. RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR
OPINION:
Women have right to express their opinion
and be heard in any of situation either
personal issue or social issues.
12. RIGHT TO VOTE:
Islam provides a woman with right to vote or
participation in political affairs. Women can be in
leadership positions.
During the Caliphate of Omar Ibn al-Khattab, a
woman argued with him in the mosque, proved her
point, and caused him to declare in the presence of
people: “The woman is right and Omar is wrong.”
