WHAT IS CANCER?
• Cancer is a group of diseases that occur when cells
become abnormal and divides without control or order.

Cancer Situation in the Philippines

COLON AND RECTAL CANCER
SCREENING
• COLONOSCOPY starting age 45 years old every 10
years or
• High sensitivity FECAL OCCULT BLOOD TEST

LUNG CANCER SCREENING
• Low-dose CT scan
• Men and women
55-74 years old
• Smoking for 30
years or more
PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING
• Men starting age 50 yrs old
• Blood exam with Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
• Digital Rectal Exam (DRE)
Hepatitis B Vaccine
• Prevents liver cancer caused
by the Hepatitis B virus
• Now routinely given to infants at
birth
• 3 doses in a 6-month period
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine
• Commonly called
“CERVICAL CANCER”

• Prevents development of
genital warts
