Love vs Attachment
– In the context of Gita

A r j u n a i s u n a b l e t o i m a g i n e a l i f e
w i t h o u t h i s r e l a t i v e s . T h e w a r h a s
n o t y e t s t a r t e d . I n f a c t , i t i s y e t t o
b e g i n . A t t h e e n d o f t h e w a r , A r j u n a
h a s t o l o s e s e v e r a l p e o p l e . A r j u n a
h a s B h i s h m a a n d D r o n a p a r t i c u l a r l y
i n h i s m i n d . H e i s u n a b l e t o t h i n k
o f a l i f e i n t h e i r a b s e n c e .

We have to understand the subtle difference between love and
attachment. Love accepts all pains that one has to undergo in
life. Without complaining, love is accepting the laws of nature.
Attachment is something which we develop on someone who
gives us joy. We are unable to let go of them. Arjuna is deeply
attached to Bhishma and Drona.

Attachment gets converted to grief and fear of
losing them. Love is knowledge based.
Attachment is emotion based. Love is
unconditional. Attachment is conditional.
Love has no expectations.
Attachment is full of expectations. .

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 5, Verse 10
ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति य: |
लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रमिवाम्भसा || 10||
brahmaṇyādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ
lipyate na sa pāpena padma-patram ivāmbhasā
BG 5.10: Those who dedicate their actions to God, abandoning
all attachment, remain untouched by sin, just as a lotus leaf is
untouched by water.
