What
to
Consider
when
Using
Oracle
Extended
RAC?
• Oracle
Extended
RAC
alone
is
not
a
disaster
recovery
solu7on.
– Oracle
recommends
using
an
Oracle
Data
Guard
setup
for
full
DR
protecDon.
• The
network
latency
impact
on
the
performance
of
an
applicaDon
running
on
an
Extended
RAC
setup
cannot
be
predicted,
as
there
is
no
direct
relaDon
between
them.
It
needs
to
be
tested.
– The
higher
the
latency,
the
more
impact
it
might
have,
but
it
cannot
be
predicted
to
what
degree
the
applicaDon
performance
will
suffer
per
ms
latency
increase.
• A
hardware
architecture
that
is
suitable
for
running
an
Extended
RAC
setup,
can
be
used
for
Oracle
RAC
One
Node,
avoiding
network
latency
impact
under
normal
operaDons,
as
well
as
Oracle
Data
Guard.
