This document discusses a 2009 NEH-funded project that created websites for four institutions focused on Walt Whitman's life and work. The project aimed to make information about Whitman more accessible but had some weaknesses, such as replicated content across sites and outdated designs. However, the project also had strengths like encouraging travel, collaboration between scholars, and using digital humanities tools to spread knowledge about Whitman. It ultimately culminated in a conference that brought all contributors together.
