What is Mental Health
 Mental health is your ability to like
yourself and to accept yourself as you are.
 When you have good mental health, you
feel good about yourself and comfortable
around other people.
 You are able to take charge of your life
and meet its demand.
People with good mental health…
 Work well in a group.
 Know how to accept criticism and don’t
get angry when they cant have their way.
 Are not afraid to face problems and look
forward to new challenges.
 Give their best at what ever they do and
set realistic goals for themselves.
People with good mental health…
 Can take disappointment every now and
then and know how to accept their
limitations.
 Are happy and active most of the time and
have a positive outlook on life.
 Are aware of their thoughts and feelings
and can usually express them in a healthy
way.
Developing good mental health
The first step toward developing good
mental health habits is understanding
yourself. This means focusing on your
strengths. It also means accepting things
about yourself that you cannot change
and working at changing those that you
can. Try also to learn from the past
mistakes. Once you can learn from these
mistakes, you stand s much better chance
of not repeating them.
Developing good mental health
Another important step toward improving
your mental health is learning to accept
other people for who they are. Everyone
has faults. But everyone also has qualities
to be admired. Making a habit of looking
for these qualities will lead to healthier
you.

STRESS IN YOUR LIFE
 You may feel stress when you meet
someone new, get ready to go to party,
try out for a school play.
 Stress is your body’s response to changes
around you.
Two types of stress
 Eustress
Stress that helps you to
accomplish and reach
goals. When you feel
excited or challenged
by an activity, you are
experiencing uestress.
Also known as positive
stress.

Negative stress
Is stress that can hold
you back. When
people talk about
being under a lot of
stress, they usually
means negative
stress. Too much
negative stress can
be unhealthy.
Stress and stressor
 In order to function, your body needs a
certain amount of stress. Stress is natural,
and is triggered by many different types of
things. These triggers of stress are called
stressor.
 Stressors can take the form of events,
people,places, and objects.
Coping with stress
Everyone feel stress from time to time but
not for the same reasons. It is important
to know what is stressful for you. It is just
as important to know how to handle that
stress
Rules in managing stress
 Plan
learn how to budget your time. Planning
your time can result in accomplishments
that will build on your self-confidence.
 Talk
discuss your problems with a friend, a
teacher or a family member. These can
help relieved stress. People with some
distance with your problems can often see
solutions more clearly

Your body reacts the same way to positive
and negative stress-by making adrenaline,
which raises your energy level. Rechannel
all that added energy into something
worthwhile. Clean your room…

Lie down or sit down and try to empty your

ease stress. Listen to soothing music…
 Laugh
Spent time with people who make you
laugh. This is a good way to relax. If you

negative stress can lead to fatigue and
