2. THINGS TO KNOW:
• If you haven’t seen this before, it’s going to be a little weird.
• It’s a learning curve for advisors, the Registrar’s Office, and IT.
• It’ll get more intuitive as you get more experience.
• As we all get more experience, we can have continuing, productive
conversations about changes and upgrades.
• A conversation about how we are going to standardize these notes
for PACE Advising is ongoing. You may learn more about specifically
where to include specific documentation at a later date.
3. GOALS FOR TODAY:
• Have awareness of the timeline for the transition from the old
Planner to the new Plans
• Navigate between different views in New Plans
• Choose the appropriate view in New Plans based on your needs
• Create, edit, and print a plan
4. TIMELINE
• November 2nd – 3rd: IT copies Planner data to Plans
• November 6th – 17th: Advisors compare data in Planner and Plans
• Check out old advising notes for your caseload in Plans. Are you able to find
everything you need? If not, what’s missing?
• Begin entering some data into Plans to test it out and make sure you are comfortable
with the new format.
• November 20th & 21st: IT resolves issues discovered after advisor testing
• November 27th – December 1st: Advisors complete a final testing
• December 4th: New Plans goes live and Old Planner is removed from most
end-user views
6. FOUR WAYS TO VIEW PLANS
• Edit View: Add courses, notes, and other data to the plan
• Audit View: View the student’s Worksheets Tab within Plans
• Calendar View: View multiple semesters of coursework at once
• Notes View: A read-only version of Edit View from which you
can print
7. PRACTICE 1: VIEW AN EXISTING PLAN:
• Pull up Degree Audit and enter sample ID: A04757918
• Refer to your handout for further instructions and screenshots.
9. PRACTICE 2: CREATE AND EDIT A TEST
PLAN
• For this, be sure to use an ID from your caseload
• Name your plan according to usual conventions, but be sure to
mark it “TEST.”
• Let’s walk through the instructions in the second part of the
handout.
11. IT’S LIKE A RUSSIAN NESTING DOLL, BUT
WITH STUDENT RECORDS
• A course is nested
• In a Term, which is nested
• In a Plan
• And you can make notes about each
layer.
12. REFRESH IN STILL NEEDED
• Have you added a bunch of
courses from still needed?
Are you trying to figure out
which options from still
needed are actually still
needed?
• There’s a button for that.
Things to note:
Still remaining
Audit Popup
Ignore “Create Block,” as it is going away.
Ignore “What-If” for now. Plan to run what-ifs from Worksheets.
Save early. Save often.
