• 9:00-9:15 | Check-in

• 9:15-9:30 | Intro to the day

• 9:30-10:00 | Stakeholder Interview
– Come prepared with questions
– Be prepared to take thorough notes
– Stakeholder will be available throughout the day for questions or to
get feedback on iterations

product, what will your team tackle to fulfill judging requirements?

– Outline your plan with team member responsibilities and
deliverables
– Decide what you want to present (how many screens, how you
want to present the screens, what else you’d like to present)
– Build your persona’s
– Building your User Journey based on 1 persona
– Decide what aspect of that journey you’d like to expand on and
present
• 11:00-12:00 | Ideation/ Card sorting, Prototyping Phase 1
– Persona’s should be complete
– Journey Map should be complete
– Create rough paper sketches of your prototype pages
– Indicate function (carousels, movement, input screens, where the
user ends up)
– Test your pages on each other

– Any general announcements
– If you want to work through lunch, take at least 20 minutes off and
walk away from our project
– This would be a good time to find the Stakeholders and spend
some time with them
• 1:00-2:00 | Prototyping Phase 2
– Build out higher fidelity prototypes on either paper or a
prototyping/wireframe app such as:
– Axure
– Omnigraffle
– Balsamiq
– UXPin
– Proto.io
– CSS Products
– PAPER!!
– Other
– Test your Prototypes
– Print things out as you complete them AFTER you’ve tested
– Start putting together your presentation

• 2:00-3:00 | Prototype Completion
– Finish up all the physical parts of your prototype
– Finish up any other presentation boards
– Clean up your user journey on your white board
– Make/present clearly defined persona(s) with pictures
• 3:00-3:30 | Outline your presentation
1. Pitch (go over what the objective was as your team understood it
from the stakeholder interview)
2. Identify what your team decided to build out as a solution
3. Identify Personas and designate 1 chosen persona for your user
journey
4. Present your User Journey
5. Demonstrate your product as you take us through your user
journey
• 3:30-4:00 | Practicing your Presentation
1. You will have 5 total minutes for your presentation from beginning
to end
2. The judges and Stakeholder will have 5 minutes for Q&A and to
finish their judging
3. We encourage each team to make sure every team member
participates in the presentation
4. Time yourself and get as many practice runs in as you can
5. Time YOURSELF!!

• 4:00-5:30 | Presentation/Judging
– THERE WILL ONLY BE PAPER PROTOTYPE AND NO
ELECTRONIC PRESENTATIONS
– The first team up sets the standard and everyone gets judged
compared to them
– Be prepared to quickly bring your project up to the front – your white
board, presentation boards, paper prototype
– Be prepared to quickly move off the stage AND Set your project
back up at your station as most likely the judges will take a second
look at the end of every presentation

14. WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
• Create folders full of social icons in a many styles (search for
free sets)
• Folder full of buttons, nav bars, screens,
• Bookmarks of all kinds of sites where you like to find examples,
images, etc.
• PRINTER and ink for your printer.
• Make sure everyone on your team can hook into your printer by
having printer drivers loaded and tested
• Use and log into your Google Drive Folder provided by SC UX
team
• A UI kit with all kinds of office supplies like pens, markers, tape,
scissors, stapler, TAPE, paper clips, binder clips

15. WHAT SHOULD I ALSO PREPARE
• If you have a special diet bring food
• Comfy Clothes – socks if your feet get cold
• Stuff to be creative – if your team wants to present using sock
puppets, bring socks!
• If your team wants to present via a Shakespearean play, dress
the part!
• Creativity is encouraged!
• Be prepared to work hard BUT HAVE FUN and learn!
