Questa biblioteca è stata concepita in base al sistema di catalo-
gazione dei libri ideata da Dewey che utilizza le cifre decimali
per ordinare le informazioni secondo una gerarchia infinita.
Si può dire che in un certo modo il Sistema Decimale Dewey
ha modellato la forma a spirale del percorso che ospita i libri a
scaffale. Così una rampa continua, da cui si irradiano le stanze,
invita gli studenti all’introspezione come se fosse un portico fran-
cescano nel quale abbia trovato posto una libreria.
Una volta entrati nelle sale di lettura, la luce è regolata dagli ag-
getti continui in facciata, tenendo conto dei seguenti parametri:

The conception of this library is based on the Dewey System
which uses decimal digits to order the information according to
an infinite hierarchy.
It may be said that the Dewey Decimal System has shaped
the spiral pattern of the passage which hosts the books on
the shelves. A continuous ramp, from which the rooms radiate,
invites students to self introspection as if it were a franciscan
porch where a library has taken place in.
Once inside the reading rooms, the light is adjusted by the con-
tinuous overhangs on the facade, following these parameters:

light according to the necessity.

Laddove sorgono soltanto le rovine di un antico acquedotto romano
e una cinta muraria, con poche e semplici mosse, si vuole proporre
un parco che, attuando scelte sostenibili e sfruttando i dislivelli e gli
elementi già esistenti, possa essere accattivante.
Il progetto si rifà al principio di una cultura comunitaria, esemplifi-
cata dall’orto pubblico e dalle case sugli alberi che sarebbe possi-

Ticket Pavilion
Questo progetto nasce dalla proposta di ideare una biglietteria
temporanea da collocarsi vicino al Colosseo che potesse essere
economica e di facile montaggio.
La risposta è stata un padiglione costituito da una serie di cornici
intramezzate dai biglietti stessi, così che acquistando i biglietti i
turisti porterebbero con sè parte del padiglione che poco a poco
andrebbe sparendo.
This project was born after they proposed to design a tem-
porary, easy to build and cheap ticket office which would be
located next to the Coliseum.
The answer was a pavilion made of wooden frames between
which tickets could be caught, so that tourists would take along
with the tickets also part of the ticket office, that would slowly
disappear.

itself in its snake form went on the roman ship. Back in the city on the Tiber river, the divine
snake climbed on the mainmast and then slipped down from the ship, taking place on the
Tiberina island.
The passage designed for this project takes its shapes from the divine snake and, as the
snake has cured the evil which was spread in the city, it wants to restore the ill connection
with a footbridge that at the same time revitalizes the lungotevere promenade.

Si presenta qui un estratto dello studio monografico strutturale da
me effettuato sull’Edificio Torre Castelar dell’architetto Rafael de
la Hoz, ricalcolato secondo la normativa spagnola attuale.
La torre, che costituisce il 40% di tutto l’edificio, è sospesa su un
nucleo di comunicazioni di grande inerzia la cui posizione ec-
centrica e il cui post-tesato sono dovuti ai grandi sforzi di torsio-
ne e flessione che deve sopportare. In questo modo si permette
lo sbalzo dei piani.
Per la costruzione si sono dapprima eretti i pilastri provvisori
disposti nel perimetro dei piani. Terminata la struttura della torre
con pendini, anch’essi disposti in perimetro, si è proceduto al
ritiro della struttura provvisoria, così che l’insieme strutturale ha
iniziato a funzionare come previsto fin dalla fase di progettazio-
ne. Infine si è aggiunta la facciata continua in vetro, annettendo-
la ai pendini.
An abstract of my structural monographic research on the Torre
Castelar building by the architect Rafael de la Hoz, recalcu-
lated according to the actual spanish rules, is here shown.
The tower, that makes up the 40% of the entire building, is
hanged on the core of communications, endowed with a big
inertia, whose eccentric position and its post-tension are due to
the great stress of torsion and flection that it has to bear. Thus
it allows the floors’ cantilever.
To build it, temporary piers laid in the floors’ perimeter were
first raised. After completing the tower structure with verti-
cal hangers all along the perimeter, the temporary structure
was withdrawn so that the whole structure began to work as
planned. At last, the glass curtain wall was added, annexing it
to the vertical hangers.

Il museo della ceramica è modellato ispirandosi alle stesse forme degli oggetti che ospiterebbe al suo interno. Allo stesso tem-
po la sua sinuosità permette un percorso fluido che si adatta all’ambiente marittimo senza soluzione di continuità, andando a
costituire la quinta facciata che può anche essere usufruita come passeggiata.
The ceramic museum was shaped according to the same form of the objects inside it. At the same time its sinuosity enables
a fluid path which fits in the maritime environment and which becomes the fifth facade also working as a promenade.

Il progetto si propone di rispondere a una politica che favorisce
il privato penalizzando il pubblico, con soluzioni semplici che
facilitino l’accessibilità al pubblico in tutto il waterfront. Offrendo
servizi a volte spontanei a volte ricercati si vuole permettere di
godere e fruire del luogo non più considerato solo come belve-
dere.
The project wants to answer to a political view that favors the
private against the public, with simple solutions that facilitates
the accessibility to the public in the whole waterfront. By offer-
ing spontaneous and sometimes studied services we want to al-
low enjoying the place not thought of as a belvedere anymore.
