 India
 Country in South Asia
 India is a vast South Asian country with diverse
terrain – from Himalayan peaks to Indian Ocean
coastline – and history reaching back 5 millennia. In
the north, Mughal Empire landmarks include Delhi’s
Red Fort complex, massive Jama Masjid mosque
and Agra’s iconic Taj Mahal mausoleum. Pilgrims
bathe in the Ganges in Varanasi, and Rishikesh is a
yoga center and base for Himalayan trekking.
RAJASTHAN
 Rajasthan is a northern Indian state
bordering Pakistan. Its palaces and
forts are reminders of the many
kingdoms that historically vied for the
region. In its capital, Jaipur, are the
18th-century City Palace and Hawa
Mahal, a former cloister for royal
women, fronted by a 5-story
sandstone screen. Amer Fort, atop a
nearby hill, was built by a Rajput
prince in the 1600s.

JODHPUR
 Jodhpur
 City in India
 Jodhpur is a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest
Indian state of Rajasthan. Its 15th-century
Mehrangarh Fort is a former palace that’s now a
museum, displaying weapons, paintings and
elaborate royal palanquins (sedan chairs). Set on
on a rocky outcrop, the fort overlooks the walled
city, where many buildings are painted the city’s
iconic shade of blue.
JODHPUR
 The city is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny
weather it enjoys all the year round. It is also referred to
as the "Blue City" due to the vivid blue-painted houses
around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city circles the fort
and is bounded by a wall with several gates.[3] However,
the city has expanded greatly outside the wall over the
past several decades. Jodhpur lies near the geographic
centre of Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient
base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists.
 Jodhpur topped Lonely Planet's list of most
extraordinary places to stay in 2013.[4] Tamil movie, I,
which is the costliest Indian film to date, was also shot at
Jodhpur.[5]
JODHPUR
 Jodhpur was also part of the Gurjara–PARIHAR
Empire and until 1100 CE was ruled by a
powerful Gurjar King. Jodhpur was founded in 1459
by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief of the Rathore clan. Jodha
succeeded in conquering the surrounding territory and
thus founded a state which came to be known
as Marwar. As Jodha hailed from the nearby town
of Mandore, that town initially served as the capital of
this state; however, Jodhpur soon took over that role,
even during the lifetime of Jodha. The city was located
on the strategic road linking Delhi to Gujarat. This
enabled it to profit from a flourishing trade
in opium, copper, silk, sandals, date palms and coffee.
MEHRANGARH FORT
 National Geological Monument[edit]
 The Jodhpur Group - Malani Igneous Suite
Contact on which the Mehrangarh Fort has been
built has been declared a National Geological
Monument by the Geological Survey of India to
encourage Geotourism in the country. This unique
geological feature is part of the Malani Igenus Suite
seen in the Thar desert region, spread over an area
of 43,500 km2. This unique geological feature
represents the last phase of igneous activity of
Precambrian age in the Indian Subcontinent.[3][4]
MEHRANGARHFORT
 The Chamunda Mataji Temple
 The Chamunda Mataji was Rao Jodha's favorite
goddess, he brought her idol from the old capital of
Mandore in 1460 and installed her in Mehrangarh
(Maa Chamunda was the kul devi of Parihar rulers
of Mandore). She remains the Maharaja's and the
Royal Family's Isht Devi or adopted goddess and is
worshipped by most of Jodhpur's citizens as well.

JASWANT THADA
 The Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph located in Jodhpur,
in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built by Maharaja
Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State in 1899 in memory of his
father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II,[1] and serves as the
burial ground for the rulers of Marwar.[2]
 The mausoleum is built out of intricately carved sheets
of marble. These sheets are extremely thin and polished
so that they emit a warm glow when illuminated by the
sun.
 The cenotaph's grounds feature carved gazebos, a
tiered garden, and a small lake. There are three other
cenotaphs in the grounds. The cenotaph of Maharaja
Jaswant Singh displays portraits of the rulers and
Maharajas of Jodhpur.
JASWANT THADA
MANDORE
 Mandore is an ancient town, and was the seat of the
Mandorva branch of the Gurjar -Pratihara dynasty which
ruled the region in the 6th century AD by King Nahar
Rao Panwar.[1] In 1395 AD, a Mohil princess of the
Parihar rulers of Mandore married Chundaji, scion of the
Rathore clan of Kshstriyas.[2] This was during the era of
rapid ascendency of the Rathore clan, and Chundaji
received Mandore in dowry.[2] The town remained the
seat of the Rathore clan until 1459 AD, when Rao
Jodha, a Rathore chief who united the surrounding
region under his rule, shifted his capital to the newly
founded city of Jodhpur.[2]
 Mandore was the capital of the erstwhile princely
state of Marwar (Jodhpur State), before moving
to Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur

UMAID BHAWANPALACE
 Umaid Bhawan Palace, located
at Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, is one of the world's
largest private residences. A part of the palace is
managed by Taj Hotels. Named after Maharaja Umaid
Singh, grandfather of the present owner Gaj Singh of
the palace, this edifice has 347 rooms and serves as the
principal residence of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family.
A part of the palace also houses a museum.
 Umaid Bhawan Palace was called Chittar Palace during
its construction due to use of stones drawn from the
Chittar hill where it is located. Ground for the
foundations of the building was broken on 18 November
1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh and the construction
work was completed in 1943. The Palace was built to
provide employment to thousands of people during the
time of famine.

GHANTA GHAR
 Ghanta Ghar, also known as the clock
tower of Rajasthan, is in the Indian city
of Jodhpur.[1]
 It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh
(1880-1911) from whom the market takes it
name. In fact, the tower dominates the
entire scenario. It's a 70 mm cinemascope
with unknown and faceless humans in the
lead roles for many tourists, most of whom
are filming it live.

 The U.S. economy is the largest national economy in the
world, with an estimated $17.914 trillion.
HISTORY OF USA
 The first Europeans to establish colonies in North America
were the Spanish. In 1526 a Spaniard called Lucas Vazquez de
Ayllon attempted to found a colony in Carolina. (He also
brought the first black slaves to North America). However the
attempt failed. Many Spaniards died of disease and the
survivors abandoned the colony.
 In 1565 Pedro Menendez de Aviles founded a settlement at St
Augustine, Florida, the first permanent European settlement in
what is now the USA.
 The first English attempt to colonize North America was made
by a man named Sir Humphrey Gilbert. In 1578 Queen
Elizabeth granted him permission to establish a colony there.
In 1583 Gilbert sailed with a small fleet of ships to
Newfoundland. However Gilbert soon abandoned the venture.
Gilbert was lost on the voyage home.

HISTORY
 England was settled by humans for at least 500,000 years.
The first modern humans (homo sapiens) arrived during the
Ice Age (about 35,000 to 10,000 years ago), when the sea
levels were lower and Britain was connected to the European
mainland. It is these people who built the ancient megalithic
monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury.
 Between 1,500 and 500 BCE, Celtic tribes migrated from
Central Europe and France to Britain and mixed with the
indigenous inhabitants, creating a new culture slightly distinct
from the Continental Celtic one. This was the Bronze Age.
 The Romans tried a first time to invade Britannia (the Latin
name of the island) in 55 BCE under Julius Caesar, but
weren't successful until 43 CE, during the reign of Emperor
Claudius. In 122 CE, Emperor Hadrian built a wall in the north
of Britannia to keep the barbarian Pics at bay.
