We will focus on short vowel, long vowel, F sounds, S sounds, consonants, TH, CH, and SH sounds, W words E endings and J sounds Contractions Months in the year Days of the week Compound words Silent letters Homophones Types of words
The goal is to prepare each student for more challenging words. I want each one of you to be able to clearly understand and use the words we learn properly. If there is a word or words that you struggle on understanding, I and your class mates are here to help. There will be spelling test every Friday to keep our brains alive.  Objective
Each student must be able to. Spell each word correctly Write the word in a sentence Put each word into a metaphor or simile  Test Requirements
Comparison between a noun and something else. Remember a noun is a person, place, thing or idea. A metaphor?
Example
Comparing like  a noun to something using like or as. You would say something like something else or is as (insert adjective) something. Simile.

Monday: Write each word twice Tuesday: Write the definition of each word Wednesday: Put each word into a sentence Thursday: Metaphor and Simile work sheet Friday- TEST  Weekly Homework
Word: Grass Mon- Grass, Grass Tues- Grass: Plants with green leaves growing from the base. Wed- My big brother cuts our grass. Thurs- The grass was green as a frog. (Simile) Example
On Thursdays there will be time to partner or group up to study the spelling words and meanings of them. We will do this to build confidence and comfort with each other.  Group Work
