2005:ACCESSreceives funding fromtheW.K.Kellogg Foundation andtheC.S.MottFoundation
todevelop aprogram tostrengthen philanthropy intheArabAmerican community.
2006:CAAPconducts thefirstresearch ever doneongiving intheArabAmerican community.
Theresults arepublishedin“Insights onArabAmerican Giving.”
2007:CAAPformstheProfessionalAdvisory Board,anational advisory boardofArabAmerican
philanthropists andleaders.
2007:CAAPconducted research withover 18national philanthropic ethnic organizations,
resulting inthedecision todevelop CAAPintoanationalArabAmerican community foundation,
notforageographic area, butforanethnic community.
OUR HISTORY – CONT.
2008,CAAPbegins to engageindividual donors incommunity grantmaking both
withinandbeyond theArabAmericancommunity. CAAPreceives funding from
theFordFoundation forinstitution building activities. CAAPalso receives a
challengegrantfrom theW.K. Kellogg Foundation. With this funding, CAAP
launchesthefirst Request forProposals forArab Americancommunity
organizations.
2009,CAAPawards $73,900 to 16ArabAmericanorganizations acrosstheU.S. in
itsfirst roundofgrantmaking.Additionally, CAAPbegins housing individual
donor-advised funds with the support of the matching opportunity
from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
IMPACTING CHANGE THROUGH GRANTMAKING
Through our community grantmaking, CAAP strengthensArab
American nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life
for individuals and communities
Since 2009, CAAP has completed four rounds of community
grantmaking, providing a total of $232,900 in grants toArab
American organizations across the country
TEEN GRANTMAKING INITIATIVE
In2011,CAAPlaunched theTeenGrantmaking Initiative (TGI), agroupof 20
highschoolstudents who gather“To make adifference inourcommunity
throughgrantmaking andcommunity service.” Theteens completedtheir first
roundof grantmaking inspring 2012, awarding $4,600 to12 metro-Detroit
nonprofits insupport ofyouth-led programs.
TGIwas honored in2012with theprestigious SparkyAndersonAwardfor
OutstandingYouthPhilanthropy from theAssociationof Fundraising
Professionals-Detroit Chapter.
TGIplans toexpandnationally withseveralnew chapters inthecoming years.A
TGI-NewYorkchapterwill pilotinfall 2013.
DISASTER RELIEF
In spring 2012, CAAP established a disaster relief fund
to provide emergency aid to victims of natural and
man-made disasters throughout the world.
In fall 2012, CAAP granted over $65,000 to 5
humanitarian relief organizations providing aid to
thousands of Syrian refugees.
$1 MILLION GRANTMAKING BENCHMARK
In February 2013, CAAP reached a major
benchmark: $1 million in grants through
our community grantmaking, donor-
advised funds, disaster relief, and Teen
Grantmaking Initiative

CAAP currently houses 38 donor-advised funds, which have granted
more than $644,000 since 2010 to organizations both within and
outside of theArabAmerican community.

INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS
How Does a Donor-Advised Fund Work?
Make a gift of cash or stock to CAAP to establish a fund.
You receive a tax-deduction immediately.
You make recommendations for grants from your fund to
any 501(c)(3) organization working in the United States or
around the world.
CAAP staff provides all necessary administrative support.
LEAVE A LEGACY: ENDOWED FUNDS
Endowed donor-advised funds leave a permanent legacy of
giving for you and your family.
CAAP currently houses 3 endowed donor-advised funds:
BustanAl-Funun Fund for theArabArts inAmerica
Jack G. and Bernice M. Shaheen Scholarship Fund
Lubna Emil Bathish Endowed Fund
…and one endowed operational fund that was formed in
2012.
All four of our endowed funds have total combined assets of
more than $140,000.

Shaheen Scholarship Fund Lubna Emil Bathish Endowed Fund …and one endowed operational fund that was formed in 2012. All four of our endowed funds have total combined assets of more than $140,000.
