PDFs are files created for a precise look and at a quality suited to professional printing. They are read-only and unalterable by the viewer. They contain specialty fonts, photographs, and advanced formatting within a single file, making them ideal for creating and transmitting newsletters, brochures, and other files where you want to ensure your exact design will be printed on the physical page. You can create PDFs in a variety of programs, from Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Pagemaker to simple Microsoft Word. However, PDFs are very large files that can only be read with a PDF program. When trying to view PDFs online, people with slower connections often experience extremely long load times. If a single-page file is not going to be commercially printed, I prefer to use a compressed JPG or HTML formatting appropriate for the web. Using web-appropriate file types ensures that a casual viewer will see your message easily. The exception to the rules are files with are intended to be printed and longer newsletters.
Creating a PDF in Word Saving a document as a PDF in Microsoft Word ensures that the viewer will see it exactly as you intend. It is ideal when many people will be printing an item from different computers. The file will be unalterable after saving, so be sure to first save a copy as a .doc file before starting.
Creating a PDF in Word Open your Save Astaskbox.
Creating a PDF in Word In the Save As dialogue: ,[object Object]
Open the drop down ‘Save as type’ menu.,[object Object]
Creating a PDF in Word You’re given two options for optimization. Choose Standard if the PDF is primarily to be printed. Choose Minimum if is to be seen online to keep file size tolerable.
Changing a PDF to a JPEG Changing a PDF to a JPEG is a great idea when the document is going to be viewed quickly and online. You use the very same technique, except open the PDF in Photoshop. From there, use the Save As taskboxand choose JPEG from the Save as type drop down menu.
Adding a PDF to the FB Page This is super easy! Select Edit Page on the Page Admin window.
Adding a PDF to the FB Page PDF for Pages is the application that acts as an easy PDF reader, so the user’s computer doesn’t have to deal with the extra work of viewing the file. Just click on Edit.
Adding a PDF to the FB Page From here it’s pretty self-explanatory. Just hit Add a New Document and you’ll be prompted with a Browsing option to upload your file. There is also a box marked Custom Preview Image. This can be used to display the NGN logo instead of a blank page before the view opens the file.
Anyway! I hope that this was kind of helpful! Any other questions about how to alter the Facebook page, and I’ll try to answer them as clearly as possible. Thanks so much for bearing with me, Hallie! Life can be a handful at times, but I’m glad to be able to do my tiny part for a larger cause.
