Job Description
Job Profile at General Motors:
1. Monitoring & Compliance of Factories Act & Maharashtra Factories Rules/ Pollution control
acts.
2. Ensure applications/permissions for legislative requirements of Factories Act & Pollution
control act.
3. Arrange Medical examinations of employees as per required by Factory & company norms.
4. Generation/ analysis / and corrective of data for Management Information like Frequency
Rates/ severity rates/ Lost time due to injuries etc.
5. Assist concerned departments in organizing necessary measures for avoidance of personal
injury and environmental incidents.
6. Reporting of incidents and dangerous occurrences to authorities in stipulated time and
keeping track of resumption of duties.
7. Investigate incidents and provide possible solutions, by for preventative & corrective actions.
8. Take regular rounds in all areas of factory for observation of safety norms and housekeeping
and coordinate with concerned coordinators.
9. Assist personnel and purchase department in selecting safety apparels, shoes and other
protective equipment’s.

10. Initiate and follow up on RED TAG PROCESS for safe processes and equipment’s installations.
11. Implement & monitor the Lockout & Tag out System for Energy Isolations.
12. Implement & conduct the Safety Score Card survey for all departments.
13. Propagate safety culture by displays/training/ demonstrating the implementation/ organizing
campaigns and contests, etc.
14. Arrange & impart EHS related training to company employees & contract employees as per
requirement.
15. Arrange testing of equipment’s as per Factory & other Rules.
16. Organize Safety drills (with the help of Establishment Officer), attending to observe, review
& suggest changes related to mock Drills & Evacuation.
17. Issuing and Monitoring of Safety Work Permit & Hot work permits in the Factory.
18. Contractor Safety Management – through Conduct Safety FMEA (Failure Modes Effects
Analysis)
19. Preparing & Approving Job Site Safety Plan for contractor
20. Ensuring SOPs are in place for contractor work activity
21. Conduct Contractor Safety Review Board (CSRB) meetings & provide suggestions & actions
for their Safe Progress of work.
22. Maintain the accident register and update the database of accidents/near miss incidences
and dangerous occurrences.
23. Initiate steps/solutions to reconcile the suggestions and comments given by factories
Inspectorate in factories register and confirm the compliances after the implementation to
the Authorities.
24. Follow up of recommendations by Factory Inspectorate, MPCB, & other third party agencies
engaged by Government of India.
25. Prepare and submit a monthly report to the top management.
26. Set a good personal example at all times as a “Safe Employee”.
27. Identification of “Sentinel Events”, investigate the same for root cause & implementation of
Corrective Actions & Preventive Actions.
28. Implementation of S&IH MS as per GM Standards.
29. Implementation of Global Call to Action CAPA.
30. National Safety week planned and executed to achieve the each employees participation.
31. Authorizing vehicle/operational operators through training requirements & conducting on site
test (for Car, Boom lift, forklift, Tugger)
32. Risk Assessment completed with production, Maintenance, Facility & suppliers Team to
recognize risk level and develop the control measures to reduce risk level.
33. Leading the Committee meetings in Production area (ASC, Traffic, HMCC and FHCC).
34. Take weekly safety performance reports from contractors.
Critical Activities Handled
 Erection & commissioning activity safety requirements deployed for paint shop, body shop,
general assembly shop, press shop and Power Train.
 Construction and Operational BUY offs of contractors for contract clearance.
 Approve the work Plans for construction and Shut down activities.
 Monitoring Confined Space Entry by providing Training and process compliance on site.
 Hot work (Welding, Gas Cutting, Grinding) activities monitoring.
 Monitor the height work and Roof work activities by implementing process and Permits.
 Inspect and Approve Scaffold for height work activities.
 Inspect and Approve Erection Equipment’s -Lifting Tools and Tackles (Crane, Slings, Chain
block)

 Inspect and Approve Portable Electrical Tools.
 Conducting and arranging Job Specific Trainings-Incident investigation, fall hazard,
Confined space, safe driving, Aerial lift, Chemical handling, Risk assessment, Safe
operating practices etc.
 Approve chemical before use and maintain the Chemical Data.
 Controlled blasting conducted for the expansion of Body and Press shop.
 Risk Assessment done in Production area and Operational contractor’s activities.
