2. WHAT ARE YOU
PITCHING?
In the brief we where asked to create a
short film or documentary, or print media
about talent in Sunderland. For my project I
will be making a short film about youth
culture in Sunderland it will focus on
different themes such as friendship and
knife crime this will also help to educate my
target audience. I will also be making two
posters to go along side my short film.
3. WHO IS THE TARGET
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
PRODUCT AND HOW
CAN YOU SUPPORT
THIS ?
The target audience for this project is specifically men
between the ages of 16-25.
The audience would fit into the psychographics category of
explorer's category this is because the majority of student fit
into this category, I also think that they would mainly be
explorers as they value difference and seek discovery which
is one of the main elements of my short film.
The social grade category would be category D, and E I know
this because all the results show that the are a student which
would place them into the E category as they are not making
any money or category D as some of them are students and
have a job at the same time therefore, they would be in
category E.
4. WHY IS A SHORT FILM A
GOOD IDEA FOR THE
BRIEF ?
I think that a short film will be better for
the brief as I feel like it will appeal more
to the target audience and that the target
audience would be more likely to watch it.
I also think that it is a good idea because
I will be able to use real Sunderland
locations which will give the short film an
overall better feel and better portrayal of
Sunderland.
5. WHAT HAVE
YOU
LEARNED
FROM
RESEARCHI
NG INTO
EXISTING
PRODUCTS
?
When I researched into existing products I learnt
that mise-en-scene is very important mise-en-
scene include things like costuming, set design
and lighting. It can really help make a film seem
more immersive.
I also researched into different media theory's
within films one that I found very interesting was
the uses and gratification theory the uses and
gratification theory is a theory that suggests that
an audience play an active role in choosing there
own form of media that best fulfils there own
needs. The uses and gratification theory
assumes that the audience what it wants to
watch for 5 different reasons. These reasons are:
information and education, entertainment,
personal identity, integration and social
interaction, and escapism.
6. WHERE THERE ANY CODES AND
CONVENTIONS THAT YOU WHERE GOING
TO FOLLOW OR CHANGE FOR THIS
CAMPAIGN ?
I will be mainly following the
codes and conventions of a short
film however there is one
instance where I will be going
against it, this is when I will play
a song that sounds quite positive
and happy after a sad moment in
the film.
7. IDEAS FOR FONTS AND
COLOUR SCHEMES ?
I plan on starting the film quite bright and colourful to represent
positivity but as the story progresses making it darker and having a
slightly blue tinge to it to represent how the story is getting darker
and sadder.
As for the posters I plan on showing each of the 5 characters on the
poster each of the characters will wear a different colour for
example the antagonist will be wearing black to show that he is the
bad one.
10. WHY DO YOU THINK YOUR
IDEA WOULD BE GOOD FOR
THE CAMPAIGN ?
I think my idea would be amazing for
the campaign as not only would it
show the talented actors from
Sunderland it would show places in
Sunderland that are not often shown
on tv or in film. It would also help
educate the target audience about
knife crime which is something that
brings Sunderland down.
11. WHAT IS
YOUR UNIQUE
SELLING
POINT ?
My unique selling point is the
idea that knife crime can
happen anywhere and not
just in a big city like London.
12. HOW WILL THIS APPEAL TO
THE RIGHT AUDIENCE ?
I think this will appeal to the right
audience as the cast is in the same
demographic as the as the target
audience it will also help educate the
target audience.
13. HOW TO YOU THINK THIS PROJECT
IS RIGHT FOR THE CLIENT AND
THERE NEEDS ?
I think my project is right for the client
as it will be able to both entertain and
educate the audience about knife crime.
It is also going to showcase the talented
actors from Sunderland so that it fits
into the brief.
