This project was developed at Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre (MacICT).
MacICT is located at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. It is a collaborative agreement between the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) and Macquarie University, which provides the opportunity for NSW DET schools access to the use of innovative technologies in teaching and learning.
MacICT’s mission statement:
to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative ways of enhancing learning through the application of dynamic and emerging information and communication technologies.
Our game design project offers teachers in NSW who are embracing game design for the first time, a carefully scaffolded rich task, involving both process and product with an assessable and reportable outcome that helps prepare students for life in the 21st century.
2. Project Description Literacy for students today is no longer linear, it is referred to as multidimensional and multimodal. Games are a multimodal text and the ability to design multimodal texts and products to communicate information is a 21st Century skill.
