Definition of Education:
 Education as a multidisciplinary field of knowledge,
which is concerned with the study of all aspects of
organizing teaching, and all that relates to teaching in
educational setting in formal and non-formal
educational institution.
What is the role of an education?
 To provide the opportunity for acquiring
knowledge and skills that will enable people to
develop their full potential, and become successful
members of society.

Why Is It Important For Teachers to Study Philosophy of
Education
 It provides a basis for understanding the nature and
purpose of education.
 It allows us to consider the questions that are at the heart
of education, such as: What is the purpose of education?
How should students be taught? What knowledge and
skills should students be taught? How should students be
assessed?
 It also allows us to examine the impact of different
educational theories and practices on students’ learning.
 It helps us to consider the ethical and moral implications
of educating students, and to think about the role of
technology in education.

 It is a Greek, Philosophia means love of wisdom
 Philosophy is love for knowledge.
 Pursuit of knowledge.
 Oxford A L D, Philosophy is search for knowledge and
understanding of nature and meaning of the universe
and human life.

realities of life and principles.

students to plan to reach their destinations.

human being's physical and mental qualities in such
away that his potentialities can be realised.

individual to distinguish between the true and the
false, the good & the bad, the right conduct and the evil
