2. Folk dance is a form of dance developed by a
group of people that reflects the traditional life of a
certain country or region.
3. Raise either your right or left arm upward. Move the

outward with open or closed fist. The free hand of boys
are placed on their waists while girls use their waists
while girls use their free hand to hold their skirts.
Kumintang
4. Partners stand side by side; girl at the right
side. The boy bends his right elbow. The girl bends
her left elbow and locks it with the boy’s bent right
elbow. Free hands are placed down at the sides.
Abrasete
5. Raise both arms at chest level, either sideward
right or left. Move both arms gracefully from one
side to the other.
Arms in Lateral Position
6. With elbows bent, place the one arm in front of
the waist and the other at the back of the waist.
Exchange positions or the arms alternately.
Hayon- Hayon
7. Place both hands in front at waist level with
palms down and fingers together. With elbows close
to the waist, turn palms up and down alternately.
Bilao
8. Partners face each other and step forward. They
then pass each other at the right or left side. They step
across to the right or left while moving backward without
turning around. They then pass each other at the left or
right side, before returning to their proper places.
Do-si-do
9. Place right foot in front of the left toes with
heels slightly raised or the right foot flat on the floor.
Execute tiny steps sideward, forward, or backward
as many times as needed in a dance.
Mincing Step
10. Step your right or left foot forward. Then step
the left or right foot close to the other foot. Do this
movement with one foot leading in all directions.
Chasing Step
11. This movement is like that of the hands of a
clock- going toward the right. The dancer’s right
shoulder is positioned toward the center of an
imaginary circle. When facing the center, movement
is toward the left.
Clockwise
12. It is the opposite direction of clockwise. The
dancer’s left shoulder is positioned toward the
center of an imaginary circle. When facing the
center, the movement is toward the right.
Counterclockwise
13. The hands of boys are placed on their waists
while the girls hold their skirts. Partners bow either
to each other, to the audience, or to the opposite
dancers. This is usually done at the beginning of the
dance or at the end of the entire dance.
