Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment. They are in reality the same reactions but occurring in reverse. While in photosynthesis carbon dioxide and water yield glucose andoxygen, through the respiration process glucose and oxygen yield carbon dioxide and water. They work well since living organisms supply plants with carbon dioxide which undergoes photosynthesis and produces glucose and these plants and bacteriagive out oxygen which all living organisms need for respiration. Photosynthesis is a process that converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds in presence of sunlight. Respiration is the set of metabolic reactions that take in cells of living organisms that convert nutrients like sugar into ATP (adenosine tri phosphate) and waste products. Processes in photosynthesis are divided on basis of requirement of sunlight while respiration processes are divided on basis of requirement of oxygen. Hence in photosynthesis you have the light dependent reactions and the dark reactions while inrespiration there is aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration. In photosynthesis light dependent reactions, ultra violet light strikes chlorophyll pigments which excites electrons leading to separation of oxygen molecules from carbon dioxide. In the dark reactions, carbon molecules now independent of oxygen are converted into carbohydrates and stored in plant cells as energy and food source. In aerobic cellular respiration oxygen is utilized to convert organic compounds into energy and in anaerobic respiration converts organic compounds into energy without using oxygen.

Heterotrophic Metabolism Bacterial Metabolism heterotrophic metabolism is the biological oxidation of organic substances such as glucose to produce ATP and simpler organic (or inorganic) chemicals that the bacterial cell need for biosynthetic or assimilatory activities. Respiration Respiration is a kind of heterotrophic metabolism that utilises oxygen and produces 380,000 calories from the oxidation of one mole of glucose. (Another 308,000 calories are wasted as heat.) Krebs Cycle The Krebs cycle is the oxidative mechanism in respiration that fully decarboxylates pyruvate (through acetyl coenzyme A). 15 moles of ATP (150,000 calories) are produced by the route. Glyoxylate Cycle The glyoxylate cycle, seen in some bacteria, is a variant of the Krebs cycle. The oxidation of fatty acids or other lipid molecules produces acetyl coenzyme A. Electron Transport and Oxidative Phosphorylation ATP is produced in the last stage of respiration by a series of electron transfer processes within the cytoplasmic membrane that drive the oxidative phosphorylation of ADP to ATP. For this process, bacteria utilise a variety of flavins, cytochrome and non-heme iron components, as well as several cytochrome oxidases.

Syngulon’s technology expands the capacity for selection of microorganisms. The ability to select individual microbes with a behavior of interest is essential, whether for simple cloning at the bench, or for industry-scale production. Synthetic biology uses the concept of “bioengineering” to improve or modify existing genetic systems to create microbes with desired behaviors, and Syngulon uses this approach to develop its selection technologies. This selection technology is based on bacteriocins, ribosomally-produced peptides naturally made by most bacteria to kill competitive microbial species. These bacteriocins can have a limited or wide target range against other microbial species. This technology offers advantageous over antibiotic selection for several reasons: it avoids the use of antibiotics in the first place, helping to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistant microbes. The technology also increases product yield; as bacteriocins are generally smaller peptides, they do not impose a heavy metabolic burden on the producing cell. They can have a wide target specificity, helping to avoid genetic drift. Finally, our system is 100% plasmid-based (e.g. without chromosomal mutations), making it applicable for use in any E. coli strains.

I'm excited to share my latest predictions on how AI, robotics, and other technological advancements will reshape industries in the coming years. The slides explore the exponential growth of computational power, the future of AI and robotics, and their profound impact on various sectors. Why this matters: The success of new products and investments hinges on precise timing and foresight into emerging categories. This deck equips founders, VCs, and industry leaders with insights to align future products with upcoming tech developments. These insights enhance the ability to forecast industry trends, improve market timing, and predict competitor actions. Highlights: ▪ Exponential Growth in Compute: How $1000 will soon buy the computational power of a human brain ▪ Scaling of AI Models: The journey towards beyond human-scale models and intelligent edge computing ▪ Transformative Technologies: From advanced robotics and brain interfaces to automated healthcare and beyond ▪ Future of Work: How automation will redefine jobs and economic structures by 2040 With so many predictions presented here, some will inevitably be wrong or mistimed, especially with potential external disruptions. For instance, a conflict in Taiwan could severely impact global semiconductor production, affecting compute costs and related advancements. Nonetheless, these slides are intended to guide intuition on future technological trends.

The standard Salesforce Approval process can be limiting in many ways, especially in complex scenarios. What if there was a way to implement very flexible approvals where one can use Apex code to make data updates in unrelated records, dynamically generate next steps details, and compute assignees on the fly? And still use UI-based configurations to implement concrete approval processes. In this session, we will share ideas behind such a solution and show a few lines of code to get you started.

ScyllaDB has the potential to deliver impressive performance and scalability. The better you understand how it works, the more you can squeeze out of it. But before you squeeze, make sure you know what to monitor! Watch our experienced Postgres developer work through monitoring and performance strategies that help him understand what mistakes he’s made moving to NoSQL. And learn with him as our database performance expert offers friendly guidance on how to use monitoring and performance tuning to get his sample Rust application on the right track. This webinar focuses on using monitoring and performance tuning to discover and correct mistakes that commonly occur when developers move from SQL to NoSQL. For example: - Common issues getting up and running with the monitoring stack - Using the CQL optimizations dashboard - Common issues causing high latency in a node - Common issues causing replica imbalance - What a healthy system looks like in terms of memory - Key metrics to keep an eye on This isn’t “Death-by-Powerpoint.” We’ll walk through problems encountered while migrating a real application from Postgres to ScyllaDB – and try to fix them live as well.
